Is the gmail an issue of trying to go back and forth between accounts?
I have two gmail accounts as well, and I know that you cannot be logged in to both of them at the same time in the same browser, however it does appear that you can have both open if using two different browsers (I just checked - I had one account open in IE and another in Chrome, and was able to send an email with one that arrived no problem in the other, while being signed in to both). But, when using the same browser, if you go and log into the second account while the first is open, it will automatically log you out of the first - in IE it will leave the first inbox page as-is, and will only pop up with a message saying you've logged out when you go to click on something within that inbox (so it's a bit misleading, especially if you've forgotten that you've logged in to the other in a separate tab), while Chrome will automatically send that first inbox page to the log-in screen.
Not sure if that's the problem you're encountering, but if so, that's probably why. I know it's an annoyance for me, because I use the two accounts for very different things and do not have any crossover between them. It also drops you out of the online access for the Google Drive associated with the first account, which is a problem if you've been working on something and completely forgot it was attached to that GD before you sent to log into the other account, although thankfully it has no bearing on what you might be working on that is synched directly from your computer through the GD installed on the computer itself (which is where most of my work takes place).
