I know! The temperature in Western Europe went from 16 Celcius to minus 6 Celcius in just a week. And we got snow today.

Snow hasn't reached us here (-10 C last night though, brrr) but I'm bracing myself for "Killer storm sweeps Britain" stories in the news as soon as we get anything worse than a light frost.

 They expect minus 12 C in the night the coming weeks!

We have a famous skating contest here (contest plus just ordinary people trying to skate the 200 km). It's a route between 11 small towns in the north of the country. We hadn't got such a contest in years, so everybody is checking the quality of the ice.

You will probably bump into some of my nieces while you're out skating - not literally, I hope.

Forecasts are predicting 5-10cm of snow here tomorrow night. :(

Which probably seems quite amusing for those crazy canucks who don't count it as proper snow until it's a couple of meters deep. We've got a couple of branches of the Cogito family in Canada, including one that did the whole 'set out into the middle of nowhere and build a log cabin from scratch' thing a few generations back. They must have been darned tough, that's all I can say. I certainly wouldn't fancy it.

All I can say is that the wife and I have only been able to cross-country ski a few days this winter due to warmish weather. It has snowed up here in northern lower Michigan but it melts too fast. Weird winter, send us some snow or make it spring so i can chase steelhead.

Well yes. I continue to write. And on Fanfiction.Net, for those who want, it is possible to cast a glance at my latest efforts. We arrived to
The Ears of the Elves, chapter Forty-four

And here is the beginning of the whole story.

But, I must say, you could also find something else on Fanfiction.net written by me. If you want.

It's 79 F down here. I wore a long sleeved shirt today and I'm hot. But it'll probably be 40 F again soon. Louisiana weather is insane.

The last two days we had -20°C and less, but still not an ounce of snow all winter  It's the first time since 1996 that some parts of Germany had -30°C.

I don't think I will do much skating. It's been awhile since I skated and I haven't got much condition. However, a couple of weeks our car broke down and because we can't afford to get it fixed or get another one, train, bikes or going by foot are now our means of transport. options. Very good if you want to get into shape.

Loved those pics, Asso. So the States doesn't have much of a winter? I thought Michigan always had a lot of snow.

So far in upstate NY where I live we've had about 9 inches of snow. Normally it would be 37. And most of those 9 inches fell in one unseasonably early snowstorm in October. I'm looking out my window at lawn and bare ground. Last year it was snow-covered the entire winter (that was unusually snowy, actually). We also keep having intermittent thaws that are warm enough to get bugs to hatch and plants to wake up. I have some very confused plants!

Down here in Atlanta we've had so many 65 degree (18C) days alternating with 35 degree (2C) days that everyone is sick and the plants are beyond confused. Several of us are actually worried about some of our trees.

Just this past week I had one morning where I had to scrape frost off the windshield and another where I was wearing short sleeves. Now, I'm the last person who'd ever wish for snow -- there's a reason I live in the South -- but I will admit that I would like to be able to either put my winter clothes away or wear them consistently.

Sounds like we're all having problems with the weather. Maybe Europe and North America could switch places for a while? Think that would help? (Hey, plate tectonics is only a theory...)
My fan fiction is in The Laundry Room.
