Well yes. I continue to write. And on Fanfiction.Net, for those who want, it is possible to cast a glance at my latest efforts. We arrived to
The Ears of the Elves, chapter Forty-four

And here is the beginning of the whole story.

But, I must say, you could also find something else on Fanfiction.net written by me. If you want.

Very awesome. Even with the 80's hair, makeup, and acting it's still a quality story.

All I can say is, it's about time someone came out and said it!

13 Things Your Hairstylist Won't Tell You

-and-

15 (more) Things Your Hairstylist Won't Tell You

My favorite on the list is #7. Sometimes people are astounded that "trims" aren't cheaper than a "haircut." Newsflash: even when it's "just a trim," I still have to comb through and cut each and every hair; it doesn't matter if there's a half inch sticking out past my fingers, or three inches, or six. The procedure's the same, so the cost is the same.

My favorite on the second list: #4. I wish they'd gone into this along the lines of the "home visits" everyone likes to ask for. My profession is the only one I know of where everybody thinks your service should be cheaper if you come to their house to do it. Chances are, you don't have the right lighting in your kitchen, your dining room chair or step stool isn't adjustable so I'm killing my back to work on you, and there is just something inherently wrong with bending you over a kitchen sink to rinse you. You also take up *more* than the amount of time I'd book off for you at the salon, because you're getting distracted by your phone, your kids, your dog, your friend who wanted to come over and watch, the "quick" cigarette you want to smoke before I rinse you, whatever. Furthermore, this service is occurring during what would more than likely would be my personal time. Even if your stylist is an hourly or commission employee and won't have to share a cut of the money with the business, she deserves to be able to charge you at least what she charges at the salon for having to put up with these inconveniences. Unless I'm getting fed and/or f'd up on your dime in addition to my fee afterward, there's really nothing in it for me to come to your house vs. performing the service during business hours. We are the only professionals who don't get treated like professionals when we come to people's homes.

Sometimes I forget just how mystified some people are about what we do, and why we do it the way we do it sometimes.

So, my best work friend gave an academic presentation this morning at the same conference I was at. I've got him turned on to the idea of fanfic and fan created media - and his presentation had a little list of some of the weirdest pairings he could find on line. Some examples:

Edward Cullen and the lead singer of Paramour (who is a real person)

Draco and Hermione (not that weird. but somehow weirder than Draco/Harry for some reason)

and this gem. that I will get more information on because it's really, really, really weird:

Strawberry Shortcake and He-Man

And I thought I was weird pairing Archer/Lizzie in the MU. I dare anyone to come up with a weirder pairing than He Man/SS - my friend only presented an image - but I'm going to make him show me fics on Monday. If he can.

I've taken some days off this week so I can have a little Easter vacation. So as of tomorrow and until next Tuesday I'm free. I'll be going to be at my parents from Wednesday to Sunday and won't be online much during that time.

Have a great time, KTR!!

Just killing a few minutes in the library between homework and dinner. Today's my long day; my next class is at 6:30 and I don't get out until 9:15...which means I don't get home until 10:30.

To boot, I had to get up early to register online for fall classes. I got mostly what I wanted, but it's a little more focused on my minor than I'd like, since that's the only way I could make things work. After next fall it'll be different; I'll be done with the Gen Ed stuff, and I have to check but I should be done with my minor as well, or at least only one more class to go. So, from Winter 2011 on, I can focus exclusively on my majors.

As of now, I'll be taking Statistics, Psychology of Religion, Behavior Modification, Intro to Directing (TV), and Native American Literature.

Fun!

The things people do to Dogs.

When I am down, upset, out of sorts, mildly depressed. I listen for my favorite Opera Arias or Piano concertos. Relaxes me no end. Yesterday I spend the entire day just listening to Music. Need that once in a while
