I agree. I think that the current ideal for women is the hairless body. Some of my straight male patients even body shave because their girlfriends prefer it, they tell me. Seems to me that this is a relatively recent thing. When I was college age men shaved their faces and women shaved their legs and underarms. In the summer they'd shave the bikini area as well, but I don't remember all of this year-round total body shaving going on back then. Maybe I was just sheltered. I don't know. It's a younger person thing, too, I think. It seems that now almost every college student I see as a patient... certainly virtually every female... is hairless from the nape of the neck down or apologizes because she isn't. It's a fashion, I suppose. Even both of my daughters shave their arms, not just their underarms but the WHOLE arm. I have never shaved my arms. It would never occur to me to do so.

Trust me, it's new. It's not just "20 yrs ago to today" new, it's like something that's really progressed over the last 5 or 7 years. I've noticed it in women... like... when I was 17 or 18, it wasn't very common for girls that age to shave... other than the necessary parts... Hell not just that age, I mean really the only girls that "did that" were sluts. Well now it's totally different, not just for girls you'd consider old enough (or I'd consider old enough) to do that, like 19, 20 and above... I have a lot of guy friends at Applebees that date girls that age... 16, 17, 18... and I'll just say that now it's common for girls to start doing that REALLY young. Hell now it's common for guys, even.

Elessar I know guys do it now, but they didn't in the 60's during TOS or the TOS movies. Look at the priestesses in ST 3, you'll see what I mean. Anyway my comment wasn't meant to inspire dirty thoughts. And while I admit I know girls who are hairless just about everywhere, I don't do it. But I also admit it's probably because I don't have the energy do do it. And I'm not one of those people who follows trends, or gussies up to impress a guy, it just does look better.

Featuring a hairless Trip and T'Pol doing what they do . . . Sorry, she didn't say one way or the other.

Well Trip it works on. But I gotta say some guys it doesn't. Really I don't care either way as long as their faces are shaved. Stubble and beards make my face bleed.

My Daughter is a nut on wanting men to shave under their Arms. When I was a young man doing that would brand a male as Gay. I know that in Europe, Germany, many women do not shave anywhere. Hairy legs on a woman sort of put me off when I was young and in Germany. Hated to run my hand down a Hairy Leg. Not that I had many opportunities to do it. My wife and Daughter hate Hairy Men, those wo look like gorrilas, hair everytwhere, back shoulders, chest. thick Hair.

Being out of the loop so to speak I will venture that less body Hair on a female would be attractive.

Maybe this is something to do with globalization in some odd way Americans aren't used to? There are certainly cultures where women are supposed to be smooth and hairless for their men. And I seem to recall reading once that pubic hair is considered an extremely rude thing to show in Japan, more so than many things that Westerners would consider offensive.

You know that's very possible. I'm ashamed it didn't occure to me. The ancient Egyptians hated body hair, they even had special scrapers to remove it. Men, women, children, rich, and destitute. Maybe history is just repeating.

Kenishan, Really? I spent 11 years iin Germany and am married to a German woman who lived in Berlin. Actually I lived in Europe for 17 years off and on.

I was first stationed in Germany in 1960-62, second time from 1967-70, third time from 1974-78 and the last time from 1987-90. In 1960 I was 25 years old, single so I did meet some young German women. Also, there wre a number of them working at the Embassy. I saw some of them with stockings pressing down on the Hair on their legs. noticed that some did not shave under their arms. What happens today? I cannot say. It has been too many years
since I have been in Germany. But please don't call me a liar based on today when I am referring to 49 years ago and later. Given that I can say that there were no McDonalds, burger Kinds, KFC's and other fast food places in Germany when I was first stationed there. Closet thing to a national chain was the Winerwald restaurants. Don't know if they even exist anymore.

so, please, I am not bulling you or lying either. Somehow I rather doubt you were even alive when I first was stationed in Germany . Not knowing your age I might be able to say you weren't alive when I was stationed there in the early or mid 70's.

I was thinking about that too one of my best friends who is 28 now lived in Germany most of her life, and she is very conscious about that stuff. So I'm willing to bet that globalization has to do with a lot of it.
