Actually, he grew up in a town were the inhabitants were called "herring heads", because of the fishing industry and he loves a good herring. He worked for a week in a fish factory, but he couldn't stand the smell.
He is very into "Indonesian" food lately (back to his roots :D ), so he makes this wonderful dishes. Really good.

I'm sure they are. I was just teasing.

(You know, about what raw herring and onions would do to your breath. It was funny... right? :? )

Never mind.

Ugh, that reminds me of my my dad's fondness for this herring in cream sauce that comes in jars. Maybe pickled herring? I love smoked herring and kippered herring, but not whatever that stuff was (though I'd definitely choose it over monkey brains).

I bet Indonesian food is very yummy.

Indonesians have a wonderful Peanut Sauce that is used in many dishes. They have sort of a Kebab that has Peanut sauce on it. Holland Had a number of very good Indonesian
restaurants. When Entree is erved they bring a Big tray of Spices, sauses, and what not. Have to love Hot food.

Sounds great. My last attempt at Thai green curry beef went bust when the coconut cream separated on me, so I threw out the sauce and stirred in some peanutbutter and chopped green onions and cilantro instead. I was inspired by the yummy smell of the peanut oil I'd stir-fried in. Considering it was a last-minute rescue effort, it was delicious. I'll have to try it without the coconut cream next time and see if it still tastes good.

Wash and dry the filets, dip in buttermilk, roll in a mixture of cornmeal and flour with salt and pepper in it until well-coated on both sides, then fry it up in a shallow pan full of hot oil, turning once. If you want it a little crispier, use crushed corn flakes in the mix. And milk will sub for buttermilk just fine. Don't overcook.

Mmmmmmm.

Works well for tilapia too.

That sounds good.

Of course, the hard part around here is finding catfish.

Mmmm. I like fish that way. Poaching catfish in a bit of butter and lemon juice with black pepper is better for you, though.

What? You guys don't have frozen catfish filets? I use 'em like chicken breasts.

Well, have you ever tried kebab with garlic sauce? You can still smell it the next morning.

Well, I'm Basque, that means I consider everybody knows nothing about a good meal  No, really, we're so fond of anything to do with food that there is a wikipedia entry for it. We're very serious with food.

And we don't have very "weird" dishes, except for snails (my grandma makes them great.)

And here is the beginning of the whole story.

But, I must say, you could also find something else on Fanfiction.net written by me. If you want.

Sigh. I miss Babylon Five. Garabaldi was cute, in a hard-drinking Italian sorta way.

Yeah, panyasan, there's an Italian restaurant that I love here in town called i Monelli. My husband begs me not to go there because the salad dressing they make makes me ooze the odor of garlic from my pores for two days minimum. He also hates it when I eat Indian food. Did you know that if you eat enough curry it will change your body odor? :?

He gets his revenge, though, everytime he goes back on Atkins induction. I like the results but he sure is stinky while he's getting there.

8) This is why it's best to share garlic and curry with your loved one. Then neither of you really notice. :)

(But sharing Atkins induction with a loved one is something I've never managed to do.)
