Sounds like a book I would like to read.

I had fairly good experience with the few counselors I have had occassion to consult over the years, but there were two that I quickly "fired". One was for counseling with me and my daughter when she was in her early teens. I was uncomfortable with him always favoring my point of view - he was not being impartial. Despite the difficult time with my daughter, I was very protective of her. Actually he wasn't sociopathic, just inexperienced. So I told him honestly why he wasn't working out for us. Then there was another guy I went to one time when I was depressed about the situation on my job. The whole session was about him and his accomplishments - what an ego. It was like he was trying to gloat that his life was in better order than mine. I got up and walked out in the middle of the session without having said more than a few words in the first half hour.

Well neither of these were seriously sociopathic, in all probability, though the second one was a real asshole. But it is frightening to think of a vulnerable person seeking psychological help ending up being abused by a sociopath. Hell, that sends chills down my spine.

Uff-da, that kid needs professional help now, before he becomes a serial killer. Kid'll probably start torturing animals before too long. :wtf:

Oh he's on meds and has gone to counseling and Juvie but he can't change his spots. Oh and he already does the animal thing. I don't think he'll be a murderer, simply because he like to see people react, and you can't react if you're dead.

Yes, I have heard that about sociopaths and being counselors, but there are some good ones out there. Like mine. What a gentle guy. :) Still miss him very much. :( He was very guy-next-door. The whole therapy thing was really a life-changing experience for me. I honestly feel like a new person...confident, open and no longer very shy. I like the new me. :) Sometimes I think now that I would've loved being a therapist myself. I discovered that I like all of that deep thinking, analyzing and trying to help people. A little late now, but oh well. There is help out there for those who need it. you just have to find the right therapist.

Yes, of course, Bether. I wouldn't want anyone to ASSUME priests or teachers or counselors are sociopaths. MOST of the people who go into those fields do it to help people and thank God for it. I would just say keep in mind that those professions do attract that other kind of person, too. Luckily, I don't think there are really that many true sociopaths among us. (Alas it only takes one to really screw with you, of course.)

I have a job interview tomorrow at a community college, and this may sound weird but that's my dream job -- you get to teach without being a cop like you have to be in high school and without the same level of weird politics you'll find in four-year college departments. It's one I've tried before to get (and haven't even gotten to interview stage). Anyway, they require me to fill out a paper application that insists on my experience in reverse order. They also insist I tell them what minimum salary I want, even though I have no idea what they pay, only that it's probably not much. But if I put too little down that might look insulting.

It doesn't help that I haven't been in the classroom for twenty years, outside of volunteering in my son's school or making presentations as a guest speaker, and all my copywriting/marketing/editorial experience in which I'm using my English background and writing ability on a daily basis will probably look irrelevant to them.

And finally, the local professor who very generously wrote a glowing recommendation for me even though she's swamped right now spelled my name wrong throughout and repeated one paragraph twice.

Oh well. At least I got my foot in the door for an interview this time. Think positively, Alelou....

My turn... I'm out of catfood, shampoo, conditioner, and body wash. The laundry needs doing, and I have a migrane. Oh and the dog insists on being under my bed instead of outside even though the weather is gorgeous.

No, but you can right up to that point, which means he'd be the type that tortures a person for hours or days before killing them.

Alelou, good luck with your interview! That does sound like a good teaching situation Not being a cop in high school (ug) and NOT having to deal with university politics! I'm sending you positive energy, visualizing you in front of a class of students eager to learn from you. I hope it helps!

WarpGirl, maybe your dog has picked up on your mood and is hiding under your bed in sympathy? Yeah, its the everyday things going wrong which can make a day gloomy inspite of good weather. I hope you feel better soon!

Nah first of all my little terror is far too selfish to let my blahs get in the way of his good time. Second, he's been like this for over a week. Frankly it's irritating, he wasn't out at 1:00am and in by 10:00 am and so on. He's being wierd and I'm beginning to get worried. If he stops chasing kitty I'm calling an emergency.

PS. CX He's a whacked out kid no question, but he seems to have self imposed limits, in other words, he'll do anything to avoid jail. He's not stupid he knows he wouldn't get away with it forever.

Well, you're doing pretty well if you're on the computer during a migraine. Maybe the dog is having the worst of it FOR you. Under the bed is precisely where I'd want to be when I have one, if only I fit there.

And thanks, Linda and WarpGirl. Thinking positivelly, thinking positively....

I have to admit, CX's thought is pretty similar to mine. I'd be extremely careful of that kid, and never ever leave him alone with a younger child or an animal... or someone in a wheel chair for that matter. (Though it does sound like you can defend yourself pretty well with that right hook.)

Left hook actually. Besides I have a secret weapon with that kid OUR grandfather! He lives with my grandparents, and I'm Pop's favorite. Always have been always will be. And Pop is the ONE person on the planet that can put the fear of God in the little devil. He usually keeps his evilness confined to theft with the family. My Migranes aren't typical, I can do most things others can't. Usually they're just painful (which my whole body is so no biggie) and they throw off my balance even more. Just have to be careful not to fall out of the chair.

Migraines are so weird. Some people get sounds, some people get visual stuff (my mother used to be blinded completely by them -- I just get sparkling special effects), some people have weird tastes and smells, and you have balance issues which sounds like an inner ear effect. Have you tried Imitrex + Advil? Excellent migraine help for me, anyway. Knock wood. Actually I don't even want to talk about these things, I'm too suggestible. However, I'm so tense right now it won't happen. AFTER the interview tomorrow is when I'd be vulnerable. My body is relatively cooperative that way, thank God.

Allergic to imatrex. ALL we girls are. Wierd I know. My migranes are basically in two catagories, go blind and lose consciousness or get woozy and neausous. I have the second one today. Well at least one of us has a cooperative body, mine rebels about EVERYTHING! I'm not using hyperbole its fact. I so hope things go well for you. I miss college. :(

Good Lord! Go blind and lose consciousness? What a nightmare!

I take it they've done the MRI stuff and determined there's no reasonable surgical solution to this?

I've got more internal pictures X-rays, MRI's, CT's,and the like, than ALL of the Victoria Secret models have pictures. CP is just a hard master, but I still kick ass.
