Once I read a book about the War of 1812 and was surprised at how cynical the authors were about the whole thing. I'd never read an American history book that cynical. Then I look at the author info: OOOooo, they are Canadian . . . Sorry about that invasion/liberation thingie . . . lol

Keep in mind at the time they thought Canadians would want to be free from British rule and were just waiting for us to "save" them.

Well yes. I continue to write. And on Fanfiction.Net, for those who want, it is possible to cast a glance at my latest efforts. We arrived to
The Ears of the Elves, chapter Forty-four

And here is the beginning of the whole story.

But, I must say, you could also find something else on Fanfiction.net written by me. If you want.

I also love this part of the "Inhabitants of Canada" speech:

Got my PC reassembled today and working. Everything looks ok although I did have one BSOD but it flashed so fast I couldn't read the error that caused it. There is also the fact that I'm running 4 GB of RAM on 32 bit WinXP (it recognizes only 2.87 GB). I've heard it may cause the windows to act weird. To save money I decided to go with integrated graphics. New configuration CPU AMD Athlon X2 5600+, ASUS M3N78 PRO motherboard (nvidia 8300 integrated graphics with hybrid SLI readiness), A-DATA 4GB DDR2 800+ SDRAM, Seagate Barracuda 120GB IDE HDD and Seagate Barracuda 320GB SATA2 HDD. It even takes around 30W less power then the old configuration did :D .

So here's my happy news, and I can't believe I forgot to post this sooner!

We've been doing this group diet/weight loss contest at the salon since Mid January. I weighed in on Saturday, and I'm down ten pounds from where I was when I started! I still have quite a way to go, but it's actually starting to feel attainable now. I've retired two pairs of "fat pants" (the ones that are little loose 3 weeks out of the month, but that one week they're just PERFECT!)...and my old regular pants are now my "fat pants." I haven't tried on any older ones yet--I'm still a little scared! --but maybe later this week.

After I lose the next ten pounds, I'm throwing away all pants with any elastic in the waist (unless i sleep in them). Elastic is just a permission slip to be wrong, wrong, wrong!! :evilmonkey: (Finally had an excuse to use this emoticon!!)

Thanks for the support, ladies. :D Feeling a measure of success makes it easier and easier to say "no" to bad, bad things.

I'm happy for you obtaining your goal :)

I know what you mean about how, at first it looks like this huge unobtainable goal and then, little by little as you progress and stay on it, it becomes more realistic. That happened to me when I was training. In the beginning, I could barely run an 8:00 mile and I was like, God, I just hope one day I can run two miles in less than like 14:00. After like 18 months and persistance, I could run a sub-6:00 mile on a whim, or a 12:30 two-mile, or a 19:00 5k. It's a great feeling, it's all about baby steps... and perseverance! :) :) We know you can do it! :)
