Before I left the hospital after having Abby they made me watch a shaking baby video. It was required viewing before we were released. It was positively horrible. Real people who lost control and killed their babies...and then had to live with themselves knowing that they did it. Very sad and disturbing...but also very effective.

Same here! Also one on car seat safety, one on breastfeeding, infant cpr,basic baby care and post pardium depression.

Wow. They showed us how to bathe him, by having us bathe him. I don't remember them showing any videos or much of anything else.

But I babysat A LOT when I was a girl, and I just wasn't worried. I do remember that my sister-in-law seemed surprised and even kind of miffed that I was so relaxed.

I got my saw out today and sawed meself a path from my road through no man's land and onto the walking trail that's parallel to my road. Just twigs and branches. No trees down. But the trail is used by people who are even more treehuggy and nosy than *I* am, and so whenever they go by, you drop your saw and look about innocently as if watching for quail. <<-- treehugger rebel

As usual more whines: the zoo isn't doing well so the owner's gonna rent it to the frelling "language school" again like last summer. Only that unlike last summer he's gonna rent BOTH floors the whole place is gonna be frelling dorms for the obnoxious exchange students (don't get me started) which means everyone's gonna get kicked out. Even the staff cuz the school wanna bring their own staff. And also unlike last summer he's not even gonna wait until summer, he's gonna start renting them the zoo in like a month or so and it's gonna be all school property year round. Which means I'm getting kicked out really soon and I don't have anywhere to go
