Wow, I can't believe how long it's been since I updated this one. Sorry everyone for the long wait. Here's Chapter Five:
Chapter FiveHere's a reminder of what's been going on:
Trip and T'Pol are just getting things back to normal after the Kobayashi Maru incident, but find themselves having a few problems with their telepathic bond. T'Pol is unwilling to talk about it and Trip is increasingly frustrated and worried.
Commander Reed has been thrown off Excalibur to take a weeks leave, and write a training simulation based on the Kobayashi Maru. Trip tries to relieve his boredom by giving him the upgrade of the station's phase cannons to supervise.
The Bolians have arrived on DS1 to negotiate a treaty with the Federation and are causing trouble for T'Pol. They have demanded to see Captain Archer or there will be no negotiations. T'Pol contacts Archer who agrees to come to DS1 but can't get there for a few days. One of the Bolian delegation later turns up dead in a cargo store and has apparently been electrocuted. T'Pol suggests that he may have some connection to the Bolian intelligence community. Evidence is found that makes it sound as if T'Pol called him to the cargo store where he was killed. Somehow it seems the communications have been infiltrated.
Meanwhile Trip is dealing with station wide malfunctions of the power grid which lead to flickering lights and possible sensor ghosts. After Reed sees the sensor readings by chance, he suggests that they aren't a sensor ghost but actually a cloaked ship. The Excalibur is despatched to investigate.
The malfunctions escalate and create a power surge which nearly kills the entire Bolian delegation. Is someone trying to kill the Bolians? Trip decides that it is most likely a software problem and he and T'Pol go to one of the Science labs to work on it. Trip notices that something, most likely a virus, is indeed deleting and replacing lines of code. Suddenly they find themselves locked in and the air being removed from the room. They attempt to block the air vents and open the door but the virus is stopping them at every turn. The door is being cut open from outside - but will it be in time to save them...
