Just look for pictures you like and then ask the site owner or the author for permission to use them. It's all very simple really.

Well folks it turns out I was in fact, being a ditz of epic proportions. Again this is not unusual.

My mom comes in: "WG what are you doing?

Me: "Looking for images for my stories."

Mom: "Why didn't you look for one of my photos?" (Mrs. WG is a professional photographer in case I haven't mentioned it in a while)

Me: "I thought of that but you don't have what I want."

Mom: "Well what do you need?"

Me: (Quick explanation)

Mom: "So why don't I just set up some photos and take them for you?"

Me: "This is why I need you!"

Moral of the story... There is nothing more valuable in your life than the person who loves you the most. Mine just happens to be my mom. I can count on her for anything! Even when I am the biggest ditz on the planet, and stressing over images for fanfic...

If you just do a search for "copyright-free stock images" a whole lot of sites come up that claim to offer them. This is a situation where you'd want to have a nice virus protection program that notifies you whether links are safe, however.

I'm sure some of them are just come-ons that hope to up-sell you eventually. A lot of graphic artists works with "for placement only" or "FPO" work that will then require payment if an ad or cover or whatever is actually approved for execution. (Every once in awhile you can be amused to note that someone's ad image still has a big FPO slapped across it -- or that the copy is still the traditional Latin Lorem ipsum dolor sit placeholder. Someone uploaded the wrong file...)

I know this should probably go under the YouTubes topic but, it seems more relevant here. A few weeks ago my husband called to tell me that he found two tiny kittens while at work. We have five adult cats. The babies went to the vet and we found out we had healthy four week old girls. Our vet also said he would adopt them out through his practice once they were old enough! In the mean time they spent two weeks away from the big cats just to make sure they didn’t have any kitty colds. This last week the other cats have been teaching them cat manners.

OK, I'll be of the grid for about two weeks now, since I'm going to Scotland and then on to Copenhagen and from there to my parents place next weekend. I won't bring a computer so I won't be online until then at least.

In the meantime I'll be seeing old castles and nice sceneries, drinking whiskey and beer and perhaps catch a glimpse of the Loch Ness monster...

Have a nice vacation KTR. Today got the keys for my first office space and a small warehouse space in the basement of the office building. http://i189.photobucket.com/albums/z278/mihhailov/kontor.jpg It's not much but it will make life more easier then working from home. The rent is also quite low considering it is at the edge of city center.
