There's a German proverb "Ich habe schon Pferde vor der Apotheke kotzen sehen" (I've seen horses vomit in front of the pharmacy)
It is used when someone thinks that something seemingly impossible might nonetheless happen. (because horses due to their physiology cannot vomit)
Is there some english counterpart to such a proverb? (need it for one of my stories)
Thanx, Kotik

Re: Help with a proverb
"Nothing is impossible to a willing heart", John Heywood, sixteenth-century English poet
"For nothing is impossible with God", Luke 1:37, Holy Bible, New International version
"Where there's a will, there's a way"
Any of those helpful?

Re: Help with a proverb
Alternatives:
"Stranger things have happened."
"There is nothing new under the sun." (I think that's bibical, too.)
It always depends on the context, but I've thought of a suggestion, which isn't as drastic as the German proverb, but hits it quite well:
"And I've seen pigs fly!"
Actually, it's so obvious I shook my head not thinking of it immediately.

I guess that explains why I didn't recognize it. I've never had the opportunity to see that particular gem of the American cinema.

You had to watch it in the mid-90's for it to retain its cinematic gold
