Well, since it gives you so much pleasure, why not? Just cut back on your starship purchases for awhile...

Happy news? Well, I start work tomorrow. It's a crappy customer service call center thing, but with this economy in the tank, one takes what one must, so ... huzzah.

Also? Predators didn't suck ass, which is very happy news. :D

Huzzah, indeed. You never know. Maybe you could move up to trainer or supervisor or account rep quickly... my stepdaughter started that way at her company and now makes an excellent living, and gets to work from home, too.

I suspect my previous managerial experience was the ultimate reason they decided to hire me since I haven't worked at a call center since ... whew ... 1994? For like three months?

Maybe. Turnover is so high in call centers that they will often hire anyone who seems as if they can show up for work sober and not insult the customers. My stepdaughter used to just be appalled at who got hired and how hard it could be to fire them even from just the training class she was running when they didn't get that you couldn't, for example, cuss out customers or colleagues. (The only good thing about this is that cream rises to the top quickly.)

Congrats again, Rigil! So good to hear you've got a job.

Last night, I delivered my foster kitten Speedo - now called Stubby by his new parents. He has a little closed off wing of his house to roam, including the master bedroom and I got an email this morning that in the middle of the night he jumped in their bed and slept on the pillow between them! I think he's happily home! Three weeks ago, he was dropped off at the shelter, flea-bitten and bedraggled and a likely candidate to be put down due to overcrowding. Now, he's a happy, healthy 2.1 pound kitten in his new home! Yeah.

Been there. Done that. (The customer service representative thing.) It might not be too bad. :)

I've good news of my own: part of my internship thing involves learning to drive 18 wheelers (I know, right) and today I managed not only to back one up without hitting anything, but sit in the cab while someone else drove without having a panic attack. Well, not an actual panic attack, but you're supposed to drive those things in ways they distinctly tell you not to in regular driver's ed, taking up multiple lanes etc... So huzzah for me.

Young lady, when are you going to enter the Space Program? You seem to have done or doing or will do darned near everything and anything. Handling a rig like that is something to be proud of.

I have, since high school:
1) been a biochemistry major, which I enjoyed until my stupid roomate... well, it doesn't matter anymore.
2) did horticultural work/studies, while selling cell phones at AT&T
3) majored in web graphics, design, and media, until I got fed up with my teachers and basically left
4) and now am learning to drive 18-wheelers.

My life is a many and varied one. Though... ... when I was litte I wanted to join NASA. I was obessive about this until about the age of 10 or 11, when I realized that NASA wasn't going to send people back to the moon anytime soon. That, and, of all the sciences, physics was my least favourite.
