You actually call your father chichi in Japanes, but to be on the safe side, I would go for otoosan. It means both papa and father. Kent-san, subarashi fic o kaite aru, deskara kambatte ne! (translation: Rigel you are writing a wonderful fic, please continue.) Yeah, my Japanese is really rusty.

Azati Prime, where the lizard Xindi tortured him. There's that season 2 episode Alelou just wrote about, although I don't know if he was truly tortured or not. And of course, "A Night in Sickbay."

My oh my jT just what are you up too. Personally, I don't think that getting into a fistfight with the baddies constitutes torture. Did Silik ever torture him for real? I don't remember... However you've piqued my curiosity, and my evil streak! And not just because it's Archer, I'd be perfectly happy with Trip, Malcolm, Travis, I like danger fics. Or just journeys into the psyche... Whatever you're doing, do it quick I wanna know!

T'Pau's attempt at sucking up Surak's katra looked like serious pain of some kind. (The process of obtaining said katra wasn't a walk in the park either.)

I think there is an inherent difference between being hurt, (beaten up, zappy restraints) and people being tortured. Torture usually has a specific set of objectives. In any case, I'm curious as to what this story is...

Well, the Andorians were trying to get information out of him, and so were the people in "Detained," so by your definition, beating him up in those episodes was a form of torture.

It's kind of peculiar that we accept the old beat-the-crap-out-of-someone routine on television as somehow acceptable for primetime, but we start feeling squeamish about it when it gets into other torture techniques that we construe as more diabolical. Because beating up a person can kill or cripple him just fine. Sometimes I wonder if that accounts for the number of people who get beaten to death by stupid yahoo teenagers in this country. Do they think that somehow it's not really murder because in popular culture it never seems to have any lasting effects on anybody?

Just a pet peeve of mine. As I've said many times, if Trip really had as many traumatic head injuries as we see in that series, I think he'd either be dead or a drooling idiot by now. Archer and Malcolm, too.
