Re: The Happy News thread
Thanks! I watched a few SG-1 episodes (my roommate got me into it, but then I decided to watch Torchwood and got her into that, so now we're even). In even more good news, my cousin (not the one who was so sick, but her sister) has a connection that will likely get me a summer job. Retail, which is an improvement over many years of food service.

SUN SUN SUN!!!! After a week of nothing but gray, dank, awful rain the sun has returned. YEY!

Some of these people haven't taken their medication. Let's see what happens now...
Donna Moss: The West Wing
And by people WG had herself in mind, but then the quote would have been ruined.

Yes! Captain Jack is especially awesome, but the whole show is great.

Re: The Happy News thread
So now I've said "buh-bye, now" to thirty pounds.
I MIGHT post before/after pics, but I'm not sure. I'm not quite halfway to my total goal, so suffice it to say I'm still a hot mess--minus the hot.
But it's finally enough that I'm actually seeing it, too, so I feel pretty good about most of it.
What I don't feel good about: I don't have any damn clothes that fit any more! And no cash to get new ones!!
But...if that's my biggest problem, then it's a good problem.

That's great, Aquarius! Congratulations!
As a thrift store volunteer, I can tell you that's often a good way to get cheap clothes especially if you're still in transition. You just need some time to really burrow in and search the racks. Ones operated by churches and other organizations are often way cheaper than Goodwill and Salvation Army, too. Not that the latter are bad, they just have higher costs to cover.

OMG, ANOTHER new chapter! NORTH STAR Chapter 28

Re: The Happy News thread
Yeah, I occasionally scope out resale shops, which are okay for outfitting the top half of me, but in addition to having the difficulty of being plus-size, I'm also TALL, so it's hard to find used pants that are the correct length...and then there's the issue of finding things that don't look like they were designed to appeal to my mom...or my grandma.
This is hard enough to accomplish at a regular store, believe me. I know it probably sounds like I'm being spoiled and picky...I don't care so much about what I wear to the factory job, or when I'm not at work, but I gotta look somewhat put-together at the salon. I can't do that in floods...or Mrs. Roper dresses.
I see my best friend Sharon on Saturday. She sews, so I'm going to ask her about taking some things in for me that I like well enough to keep but can't wear because they're too baggy now.

Re: The Happy News thread
That's a good solution, too.
You can find current stuff at thrift stores. I know I do, but I'm there once a week so if we're not too busy I can keep my eye out, and of course when I'm cleaning out racks I find stuff because I'm already checking everything to see if it's suffering from one of the usual offenses: stained, missing buttons or broken zippers, ripped, pilled, faded, out of style or butt-ugly. Eventually at least half of what we get ends up in the dumpster and another quarter gets sent overseas for missions.
But some stuff comes in with the tags still on it, or never worn. People just buy stuff and never wear it and eventually get rid of it. But yeah, it's hard work shopping in those places, especially with the height issue. Doing alterations makes sense.

Keep up the good work, Aquarius, and KEEP it off!
Can you sew? Pants are not too hard to make from a pattern and making them long would be easy.

Working on a major fan fic project. Two-thirds done. Hope to put it up in the not TOO distant future.

I wrote a story for the October challenge (see thread) called A date to remember, where Trip and T'Pol do the dishes together. Tells you a little bit about how Vulcans do the dishes.

Me too.

Well yes. I continue to write. And on Fanfiction.Net, for those who want, it is possible to cast a glance at my latest efforts. We arrived to
The Ears of the Elves, chapter Forty-four
And here is the beginning of the whole story.

But, I must say, you could also find something else on Fanfiction.net written by me. If you want.

I tried very hard to resist, but I give in...Here are my brand new niece and nephew. Are they precious or what?
Sorry if it's huge. I'm not sure how to shrink it.
