McDonald's is the Devil. I gave 2 years to that place at $7.00/hr. My last day was the happiest one of my life, bar none.

Dude - it's like I keep getting sucked in. I've quit like three different times already but the retards just keep hiring me back. Anyway, I'm grateful for my work study and my side jobs cause at least now I only have to do 3 days a week.

I know the feeling. 2 years to Ruby Tuesday at $5.50 an hr.

I would want that you know "EATALY"! :D
Well yes. I continue to write. And on Fanfiction.Net, for those who want, it is possible to cast a glance at my latest efforts. We arrived to
The Ears of the Elves, chapter Forty-four

And here is the beginning of the whole story.

But, I must say, you could also find something else on Fanfiction.net written by me. If you want.

Grrr free clinic. :explode: They have this frelling rule that they only set appointments by phone. The thing is their appointment line is so busy that they keep people on hold for like an hour. Like why in all hells can't people walk in to make an appointment. I mean like not even to see a doctor yet just to make the appointment. It's the same people who set the appointments and the same computers they set the appointments on for crying out loud. And you know what I really don't mind walking an hour to the clinic then an hour back just to make an appointment. But what I can't afford is spending an hour on the phone. Hell that would cost me like $15 I can feed myself for 6 weeks with $15. :(

And like sometimes they do make walk in appointments for the doctor but not for the dentist. For the dentist people absolutely MUST call them on the phone but not only that it HAS TO be only on Mondays. (Dude like what if someone gets a toothache on Tuesday, they have to wait a whole week just to make an appointment, then they have to wait a little longer than forever to actually see the dentist. :? Well at least I don't have toothache. But then again I don't have any gums either which is a very bad, bad, bad, bad TERRIBLE thing way worse than toothache :? :( ) So like obviously on Mondays their appointment line is like totally swamped and that's how people end up on hold for hours duh. Whereas when I went to the clinic today Thursday at like 1:30pm the clinic was completely empty and the appointment setters weren't even on the phone because there were no calls, they were just sitting talking. And then they told me they could only make an appointment for me by phone. And I was too polite to just take my cellphone and call them right then and there on the spot to show them how frelling ridiculous this is. Well and they wouldn't have been able to set a dentist appointment anyway because it's not Monday but I didn't know it yet. :?

It's like the "your mama" joke "your mama's so poor she can't even go to the free clinic". What if I were too poor to even have a phone. And it's not like they get any of the money I waste being on hold for so long, and it's not like they have like an 800 number or something. And I've always been like totally terrified of dentists already, it doesn't take much to discourage me from going to one even when I really do wanna take a step forward and frelling help myself. But I haven't seen a dentist in years just because I haven't been able to make a frelling appointment. :explode:  :(

Well so I emailed them about it. But no one ever listens to me anyway. :(

Anyone else wanna chime in and tell them how bad of an insult to common sense their system/policy is? Their contact page is here http://www.sbfhc.org/DisplayPage.php?Name=ContactUs

I think you should send your story and your phone number to the local newspaper, if it's got any cajones at all. Because that clinic is probably being supported with tax dollars, and yet all they seem to be about is putting up barriers.

You don't have to get the attention yourself, but a reporter can't begin to look into the issue if nobody tips him off. They're not going to go on the word of one person anyway -- but they might start looking into it. They also might not. Maybe your local paper sucks and just runs wire stories and doesn't give a hoot about it. And I'm NOT saying call the local TV station.

Other option might be if there's a local web site where you can post something like this to get a discussion going. That you might be able to do anonymously.

The basic idea is -- these people shouldn't be able to get away with this crap. Your life and other people's lives could depend on the services they are supposed to be providing. And embarrassment and accountability are the best way to get bureaucratic lazy asses off their butts, especially when public money is involved.

And here endeth the rant.

I don't know. Like I said no one even listens to me anyway. And also I'm kinda scared that "embarrassment and accountability" scandal stuff might cause them to shut down the free clinic completely and then they won't be providing any services at all. :( I just emailed them about it. They probably won't do anything about my email though because like I said no one listens to me. So I don't know

Well, hey, you emailed them. Good for you.

Or as an engineer would say...it's the squeaky wheel that gets the grease. I hear ya, T'Poptarts! Sounds like a catch 22 situation here. I have no suggestions, just sympathy. My grandkids have only had health care available to them maybe about half their young lives. Good thing they are mostly healthy.
