Re: Books
I'm reading a Star Trek book - for school!
The down side is that it's in French and it's been five years since high school French. I need to demonstrate competency in French by reading an article in French and being able to discuss it in English. This is a graduation requirement (even though I'm doing British imperialism *grumble grumble*). So to practice I have a French-English dictionary, BabelFish translator, and a copy of Infractions (VOY book) that my grandparents bought me when they went to France several years ago.
So far I've only made it through the back cover, but it involves pirates stealing the main computer. Hopefully I finish it while I can still remember the beginning.

See, Rigil? They like you, and so do I.
Now get your misanthropic ass back over here!
That book sounds like fun, JK. I haven't read SF in French since college. Let me know if you require translation services.

That's fantastic-- and the best way to practice reading other languages.
When I was growing up, we were too far from any Portuguese schools (where us american-borns would be sent to learn reading and writing and proper grammar and stuff), so my mom was my teacher. And to practice reading and writing in Portuguese (when I got too old for the "baby" schoolbooks), we would pick up translations of English books, because then I'd be able to go back to the original whenever I'd get stuck. I've got everything from Sweet Valley High (hey! it was the 80's!) to Alice in Wonderland and a few of the first Next Gen novels. Much more fun than trying to sludge through a purely Portuguese novel. Not to mention better subject matter.
Bonne chance, JK! The more you immerse yourself, the faster it'll all come back.

GOOD, GOOD, GOOD!
Well yes. I continue to write. And on Fanfiction.Net, for those who want, it is possible to cast a glance at my latest efforts. We arrived to
The Ears of the Elves, chapter Forty-four
And here is the beginning of the whole story.
But, I must say, you could also find something else on Fanfiction.net written by me. If you want.

Re: Books
I think I am mostly harmless but I have had my own tiffs here. Even when something irritates me, there is so much I like about that person otherwise, that I would not want them to leave. It times I have felt like I should leave, but there is so much more to make me stay than there is pushing me to leave. Perhaps if everyone thought it out a little before responding immediately in anger, so that they can take time to explain their position better, people would not feel so hurt and they would not respond in anger in turn. I am trying to do this - go and neditate before I respond. The 'Vulcans' really have something there, LOL. There is still a lot I want to explore with these characters we focus on at this web site. This is a real creative group here - still coming up with unique perspectives and stories. I want to read more! I want to write more! IDIC rules!
Working on a major fan fic project. Two-thirds done. Hope to put it up in the not TOO distant future.

Uh, that was 'meditate' not 'neditate'. Fumble fingers strikes again!

Now, Dis, you're assuming Rigil is lurking. I'm sure Rigil would neverlurk.
Would you Rigil?

Hey Rigil, if you're around - Terry Pratchett's new book has added to the Imaginary Table of Elements: Stygium.
It absorbs light abd then bursts into flame.

I was thinking of getting the Voyager String Theory books. Has anybody read those? Are they good?

I have the String Theory Trilogy in my pile of books to be read. So, unfortunately I can't help ya with that yet. But on a happy note my pile of books to be read is slowly but surely getting lower.
Re: Books
I've read several chapters of Q&A and really liked what I've read so far there are some laugh out loud moments with Q and the new Enterprise crew members when he makes his famous sarcastic comments I won't spoil it but the story is getting really good.
