A classic rifle. If it is in excellent condition, it is one of the finest rifles ever made. Cherish it and your grandchildren will still be killing with it in a hundred years.

A true classic. A machine that will allow one to protect their family and loved ones if necessary, put food on the table and provide endless recreation. Stockpile some good quality ammo and/or reloading supplies and tools, then secure the necessary spare parts that may wear or break. Clean and oil it regularly and it should serve you and yours for generations.

I'll let you know when I get it. The bore was advertised as "bright with deep rifling", so we'll see. The bolt and receiver appeared to be in great condition, the stock looked good and most importantly the stock, bolt, and receiver had matching serials. I'll have to do a headspace check when I get it, though. A friend of mine is going to machine me an Enfield headspace gauge. Sounds a little tricky I know, but he makes em for Mosins already and I used it, so it should work out well.
I haven't actually gotten into reloading yet, primarily because it's such an expensive and involved hobby, that I just know it's time consuming but one day I'll definitely check it out. I have somewhere around 500 rounds of surplus ammo for my two Mosin Nagants, and I actually did pretty good in the Surplus Lottery, they don't hangfire or split the necks and they're decently accurate. I've never fired any OTHER 7.62x54, so I don't know how they compare, but they'll give me about an inch at 50y, which is like 2 MOA, but out of a 64-yr old rifle, that's impressive enough for me.
I've been told the Enfield shoots much crisper and nicer than the Mosin, especially since a lot of Mosins these days are mix-n-matches, so I'm looking forward to playing w/ the Enfield.
AH! Speaking of parts, you just reminded me I need a new floorplate latch for both my M44 and M91/30.
