Wisdom Teeth Removal COMPLAINING THREAD!

Ok so I'm not a wuss but this kinda sucks. I want food. REAL FOOD. I want to drop pills but hydrocodone makes me throw up. I want to sleep but I came to work out of some retarded romantic sentiment to see someone I'm moving away from in about 8 days. I want to go home and go to bed but I'm also very very nearly out of vacation and supposedly I'm going to need it later this week for the worst part of the swelling.

Did I mention I want to work out? little freaked I'd bust a blood vessel. Doc told me to take a week off.
A week!?

Dude I so get what you mean! I had all 4 out at the same time, and had a college History mid-term the next day! Which I did completely high on vicodin and with a face that looked like I was sucking on a baseball, then my professor got all snitty because I got a D. At least I showed up. If I hadn't automatic F. And the pain!

Wisdom teeth removal is just awful.

Ibuprofen, dude.
Personally I thought the first day was the only bad one. Yes, there was swelling after that, but that only hurt if I looked in a mirror.
Think of it as the perfect excuse to have malted milkshakes or rootbeer floats to your heart's content.
(And I hope she appreciates it.)

She called right before the surgery, and then she called and asked why I was at work today. I didn't have the nerve to tell her over the phone the real reason so I just muttered something about it not being that bad (UGH! not that bad. My holes had to be bigger than they originally thought but at least I didn't wake up halfway, that's what I was afraid of). I told her over email I was just here to see her, cowardly as that was

I'm hopeless. The rinse this morning before work at today at work was, admittedly, excruciatingly painful. The things I do

Yeah I have 800 mg ibuprofen. I was originally listening to the label and taking 3 a day interspersed evenly but F that. When I get real bad headaches I'll take 6 500mg extra strength tylenol so I'm going to start taking these in 2's. Every time I change gauze and rinse it out it's pretty miserable.

Just be very, very, very careful to avoid mixing Tylenol/acetominophen with alcohol, please. Far too many people have destroyed their livers doing that.
D will let you know how much ibuprofen you can safely take, but prescription strength is at least double what they say on the bottle.

At least double the mg or at least double how much you can take?
Thanks, I can't drink until this is totally healed over anyway. Never been any problem for me when someone says I "can't drink" like if I'm on medication. Kind of interesting, though, I'd have thought that a good swish of dry gin would clean that sucker out (not to mention BUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUURN)

Well, at least you didn't get your wisdom teeth removed while still recovering from knee surgery like I did. They had to triple or quadruple the strength of the various painkillers because my body had built up a resistance (thanks to having been given Demerol for the knee), so I was completely awake during tooth removal (which apparently wigged out the doctor a little bit.) It eventually gets better, but those first couple of days ... ouch.

4 advil = 1 perscription pill. I know this because the Drs. told me to do that instead of getting perscriptions constantly. I take 4 Advil liquid gels for day to day pain myself. And I do not drink on days I do.

Read the instructions on how much you can take, and you can safely double it (if it's OTC). NOT if it's a prescription. (WG, are you talking about regular or extra strength?)
Seriously, though, you could call your Dr or PM D. This is assuming you generally tolerate ibuprofen well. Some people are more prone to stomach bleeding. Honestly, it might be best to let your Dr know what's going on anyway if you can't use the painkiller they gave you. They might have a better suggestion (other than the obvious one to go home and sleep).

I hope you feel better soon E! Vicodin works for me but it make me sick to my stomach, too. If I remember correctly I felt fine in a couple of days.
I woke up (screaming) while the dentist was cracking one of my wisdom teeth in half to get it out. Apparently the roots were crossed so it was the only way they could get it out.

Yikes! See, Elessar, it could have been worse.
I probably shouldn't talk about how easy it was for me, since I only got TWO wisdom teeth.
My son currently has three forming. Does this make him a perfect average between his father and me, or is it just weird?

I got all four of my wisdom teeth out at the same time, and it was miserable. So,

and feel better.
I remember that I had a college interview - yes it was that long ago - shortly after and my first real food came the night before the interview.
Not fun. But, this too shall pass. You'll feel better every day.
Just make sure you follow all the after-care instructions.
