Kotik's italian melt-down continues...

Armenian singer За́ра Пашаевна Мгоян in duet with italian singer Al Bano performing an epically brilliant version of "Liberta". Btw. the girl was runner-up in Russia's X-Factor 3 years ago. That song makes me weep - soo great...

And now the ultimate mixture

Sara, the armenian singer from the post above ^^^ in cooperation with the Turezkiy choir from russia. They sing a ukranian folk song mixed with parts of israeli folk-song Hava Nagila. You'll probably understand nuff anythimg, but dang that girl's beautiful! And she's got grace and style !!

She's cute. :D The song was unusual. I recognized a little bit of Hava Nagila but I've never heard any Ukrainian folk songs and I don't speak Russian. What was the point in mixing them? Was the song about a Russian courting a Jewish girl or something?

No it's a ukranian song about a guy (unsuccessfully) courting a girl. I think they added the Hava Nagila bits just to create a better dynamic on the stage. The Turezkiy Choir (all the guys you see) are a legend in russia and they are known to blend different songs into one and make it sound brilliant.

The clip is a performance from russia's version of X-Factor, called Fabrika Svezd (Star Factory). Usually I don't care much for those casting shows, but season 6 of Fabrika Svezd was absolutely spectacular and actually made the original look rather bland. It was unusual in the fact that the best Russian actually came third. It was won by Belarussian Dmitri Koldun with Sarah (the girl in the clip) from Armenia second. They really went bezerk on guest stars. The Scorpions, Ricky Martin, Tatu and others were part of it. The concept is simple. Each participant has to perform songs with the established guest parts and in each show two participants have to perform solo numbers with one of them beeing voted out afterwards.

But these are all professional musicians, right? We don't have anything like that in the US, I don't think. But then, I don't watch MTV or VH1, so I may be wrong.

There is a little of that on American Idol, but not every week. They get really big stars to mentor all the contestants, and sometimes the star of the week will do a duet with one of the contestants, or maybe the star will do a solo. Then in the finale they have huge stars singing with the contestants, song after song. It's just incredible: the Bee Jees, Cristina Aguilera, Alanis Morissette, Chicago, Hall and Oats, Brett Michaels, Janet Jackson . . . . (I googled it so I could remember the stars).

But the professional musicians aren't competing in the US. They're just guests. Did I understand Kotik correctly that all these professional musicians are competing with each other and Sarah is one of them? Or did he mean that his girl Sarah is a contestant and part of the competition was to sing with this famous Russian group?

Just as in the american original the guest stars are just guests. It's the participants who compete and Sarah was one of them. In some of her duets she made the guest stars look really mediocre  She's downright amazing. As I said, I don't care for that show much or any of its kind, but season 6 had at least 4 contestants which constantly made their guest partners look like amateurs (well at least if you're into russian music, like me ;) )

In this performance she completely pwns her legendary (in russia) partner Valeriy Meldadze

Saw this one on MTV Russia today :o and found a clip of it on youtube

TaTu: Beliy Plashik

Achtung! It's definitely decon material and the conclusion is nothing for someone with a heart condition. It's extremely cruel and disturbing. I'm surprised they show something like that uncensored in daytime TV

PS: It's not exagereated, it's Russian reality, which is why this clip was made. I lived there for 4 years, this is (unfortunately) no fiction :?

Kotik, if it's all you say it is, it shouldn't be linked to in the forum. We don't have any NC17 disclaimers in this section.
