Officially 100 degrees where I live today, and it's only the end of June.

Word.

I took this picture with my phone this afternoon after my car had already been running for about five minutes (i.e., the temperature gauge had already reset and dropped from where the car had been sitting still). And today is the first day of the heat wave for Atlanta.

Nuff said.

If I owned that place and hell, I'd rent that out and live in hell.

The heat is awful in most of the country. Ours is just breaking tonight but tomorrow we head down into NJ into the thick of it. I just hope it was like October's snow storm -- an early sign of something that won't actually come to pass.

My heat tolerance has disappeared over the years and after last summer's trip I'm still jealous of my British cousins. I miss all those comfortable temperatures. You don't even have mosquitoes!

Maybe that's how my cousin has found the energy to create this incredible rock garden out of a once-ordinary back garden in Edinburgh:

Sigh, We have 107 many days and have had a couple of 110 days. Wait until July and August when it really gets hot here. 80's and 90's are comfortable for us.

When I was in Phoenix last month, it was 106 in the evening. The airport was cooled so much, though, that you wanted a sweater inside. Sedona is up higher and it was about 100, but very comfortable sitting out on my friend's back porch, drinking iced tea with lemonade.

I think, given my druthers, that I'll be retiring to Hawaii.

Last summer it was an earthquake this summer... TORNADO! Yep, last night. I'm fine, family's fine. The entire town doesn't have power! We're on a generator so I have to conserve energy. Just enough time to tackle email and to let Y'all know what happened just in case I'm not around for a while.

Glad you have a generator (and a roof!), WG. Surviving a power outage in this heat would be murderous without.

We stayed in the AC in NJ and I got my grandbaby fix, though it was far too short. Tomorrow Alejandro and I head off to Maine and highs in the 60's. Yum!

In keeping with the randomness topic, I think one of our cats must have some "ragdoll" breed in him. He's so floppy and he has these huge paws. His muscle tone (or lack thereof) reminds me of my friend's daughter who has Down's Syndrome. You definitely can't miss it when this cat is moving fast ... he has this loud, floppy, string-of-small-earthquakes effect. This is the fella we got to keep the stray kitten company when our old fella died. They do make a good pair, but she's this delicately fierce little girl and he's an easygoing hulk.

Okay, back to packing. The cats are not being helpful. They keep parking in my suitcase.

Well we also have a pool so that helps. Right now, there are 8 of us. My sister bro-in-law the two boys and another grammy, have joined me and the Parental units and we're a bit like Gilligan's island. That said, positive vibes would be appreciated. No showers and I smell like sweaty baby!

WG, the municipality closes the Pools during the Summer here. Too Hot I guess. Anyway, unless one as their own pool you cannot use the cities.

One problem we have here is kids falling into pools and drowning. A number of them this year.

Dis, kids in a pool forget how hot it is. when it is in triple digits they can get one hell of a Sunburn. none of this lying beside the pool sunning. Frying is more the word. Or baking. anyway no amount of sun block is going to keep away a Sunburn.

I have said this before: Blue skies and sunshine every day can get old. A nice pewter gray once in a while.

Well I don't think we'll get power back soon. But my brother is awesome, he's been a big help.
