Dis I thought a little natural sea salt was okay for people with high blood pressure. Is that wrong? Need-to-know for my mom... :?

Sodium Chloride is Sodium Chloride, regardless of whether it's sold as table salt or rock salt or sea salt or whatever. Your accountant might notice the difference, and your taste buds might appreciate the difference when you have other stuff mixed in with the salt, but as far as your blood pressure is concerned it's all the same and more than a tiny amount is bad for you.

Kotik,

Glad i did not have a beverage in my hand or there would have been spewage. My wifey and I share the cooking duties. I enjoy cooking and can do most any entree or appetizer. I cannot bake. The misses handles all the baking. She also can cook most anything, and it has been a true joy getting her to learn how to use spices. She comes from a family that always puts ketchup on the table. My only insistence is that all dinners should have some form of dead animal involved, unless its a Friday in lent.

My brain's trying to figure out what to add to your subroutine......

I wish I could bake! My sisters are brilliant bakers, but I'm stuck on it. The only thing that I can bake even half way decent is cookiees and pies (with pies I don't make pastery I buy it). Anything else and I'm utterly hopeless.

I'm sensitive to salt, a little tastes overwhelming to me. The only salty things I really like are potatoe chips and olives. I never used a ton of salt in my cooking. I always just piled on the herbs and spices.

One thing I learned back in my college days (Georgia Tech) was that you can slowly increase your use of black pepper and decrease the use of salt. After awhile you will find that the "need salt" taste bud gives way to the "more pepper" taste bud. And its much healthier....

WG, I used to love baking. Cookies, Cakes Pies. I wanted to learn how t make cinnamon Rolls and bread but the wman who was going to teach me moved away before she could. I tried from a book but failed miserably.

When my daughter was about 10 we used to bake Chocolate Chip and Peanut butter cookies in the evening. she had fun doing it and we had dozens of cookies to eat.

I haven't baked in years.

BTW. I always ussed Glass to bake in. glass Cake Pans, Pie plates, Had a lovely glass oval baking dish for my baked Beans.

My 13 year old went into the kitchen about an hour ago and baked a cake. No reason. She just wanted cake.

Sigh. If I eat any I'll never be ready for that MU T'Pol costume at the end of the month. Grrr.

Oh my I am doing research into tropical aquariums for a story, (sorry not TnT) and I am almost overwhelmed. The complexities of putting the right spieces together for a harmonious enviornment makes planning a table for feuding family at a wedding look easy. Things always look so peaceful on the discovery channel.

Ouch, Grrr. Been there. Done that. Have the scratch marks to prove it. 8)

His name was Oreo. He was a cute kitty we rescued from the Humane Society. Black and white, of course. He survived the abscess I had to give him meds for and lived about 10 years after that before Hurricane Lily got him. He was an outside cat, ran out in the storm and never came back.

Salt water aquariums are tricky, Warpgirl. Worse than a swimming pool with all the complicated chemistry required to set them up. And they get all gross and salt-encrusted if you don't take care of them. My husband had one when we were first dating. Had a lionfish in it. Pretty but poisonous.
