One day you'll want to write a scene where everything seems to be going wrong and your character is short of sleep and in pain and and irritable and struggling with one bad thing after another. And as you sit warm and comfy gazing out the window at another beautiful day you'll wonder how you're going to write that. And perhaps you'll think back to today and say to yourself: I remember what that feels like; I've been there; I can write that.

:patpat:

And all because that daft sod next door went and woke you up at 3am. :(

Okay what the heck did Paramount do to ST.COM?      Does anyone remember the time where is was full of informative articles, detailed cultural analysis, and really great advice colums. I repeat what the heck!!!!!! I am just devestated at the mockery it has become. There was a time you could type in the words Vulcan and Matriarchy and at least 10 articles, one mini-movie, and references to episodes would flood your screen. Now 5 results, all on the message boards! :banghead: :banghead: :banghead: :banghead: :banghead: :banghead: :banghead:

Don't you wish there was some sort of "way back when" machine you could use to go see what used to be posted there?

They, meaning Viacom, just figured that the original continuity is now over and would concentrate more on Abrams Trek, thus pulling the plug. And then there was the infight over who'd foot the bill when they split up the rights between movies (Paramount) and TV (CBS). No one was keen on paying for an, in effect, "dead" property.

Strange, but I have noticed an increase in the quality of advetisers around re-runs of Enterprise: When I first started viewing them the advertisers were mostly male enhancement products. Now, major car companies, insurance companies, Burger King and the like. That is top of the line advetisers for a show like Enterprise. It would seem that Ent. is drawing in more viewers for the first time and advertisers sense that. Perhaps if the show had quality leadership it may have drawn that kind of advertisers and lasted longer. One thing when that level of quality in advertisers comes along more can be asked for advertising time and revenue goes up. Think that someone was a little fast on the trigger. My vote goes to that man who now heads up CBS who split up the Star trek among three different orgnaztions. viacom, Paramont and CBS. Wonder if he had hte authority to do that. He also apparently had the Ent sets bulldozed. As I understad it he hates SciFi. Naturaly no one else can view it then.

You also have to remember a network like sci-fi gets more advertising than UPN back in the day. Also there is ENT time-slot 5pm EST. You can't really run too many of those "other" ads. School kids are up!

Isn't it "SyFy" now? Heard they're trying to get away from science fiction.

SB is right, the top guys in Hollywood and at the networks hate science fiction. They love the money they get out of bilking the fans but have no clue why people want to watch it. If there's not enough explosions per minute they get antsy. Anything that's too complex for their grade school minds gets simplified.

Ok SYFY! Sorry. The point is, UPN was an entirely different type of network, that didn't get great advertising no matter what genre.

Honestly, I think that ENT had a lot of factors that went into it's problems. To just catagorically blame corperate America is oversimplifying it. Besides they're responsible for much, much worse.

Back to real whining... I went grocery shopping with my father, and he makes me nervous so I forgot coffee and some sort of pastry to keep me sane.

WarpGirl, I'm so sorry to hear they buggered up the official site and that the videos are a problem to watch there too, that sucks big time! While I never was a fan of anything TPTB did officially (I just want to look at personal fan creations like artwork and fanfic), I know you and others are feeling a great loss there now thanks to what the sci-fi hating, money hungry idiots in charge did to the fans of that site - you have my condolences on that. Yeah, I always had the feeling from TPTB that what the fans wanted, loved and cared about was the least of their concerns.

My point is that the Ent series has drawn a better class of advertisers so the Network can charge more per advertising minute than it did when Ent was first going through re-runs. Suddenly the Lame Duck is the goose laying Golden Eggs. The network suits would be stupid to kill the re-runs. They seem to be drawing in new fans and viewers. Making more advertising revenue. Of course, the suits have never been known for their smarts. Wave a buck in front of them and they forget everything.
