We have a couple of different picture threads, so I'm not sure which one would be the right one to post this in, but since I've spent the week in Strasbourg (I got back home late yesterday evening), I thought I'd post these here.

The European Parliament:

The Strasbourg Cathedral:

The reason for the Cathedral only having one tower is that when it was built, and it was time to do the second tower, they discovered that the ground wouldn't be able to support the weight.

The city of Strasbourg:

I desire to share with all of you some images which my wife and I took recently in Ferrara.

It is a city in Emilia-Romagna, northern Italy, capital city of the Province of Ferrara.

It is situated 50 km north-northeast of Bologna, on the Po di Volano, a branch channel of the main stream of the Po River, located 5 km north. The town has broad streets and numerous palaces dating from the 14th century and 15th century, when it hosted the court of the house of Este.

For its beauty and cultural importance it has been qualified by UNESCO as World Heritage Site, and I think these images can be really explanatory. :D

Look especially at these pictures. It's the "Diamonds' Palace"
Well I think it's simple to understand why it has this name.

And for those who think the Palio is only of Siena... this one is the Historical Parade of the Palio of Ferrara. :D :D

Wow! I never saw that. Look at the scale of that building, especially the pictures from the inside.

Thanks for sharing. My horizons are expanded.

I had to do a short business trip. I had to to to Maranello. I think many of you know Maranello, it is Ferrari's home and, obviously, I took advantage of the circumstance to visit the Ferrari Gallery.
So, for those who can appreciate it, here are some images.
The tremendous narcissist that I'm appears in the beginning and in the end. :D

My son was very interested to see these, but then added, "What, no Enzo?"

Asso, you do seem to have an interesting life. :)

The G-20 Meeting is in Pittsburgh this weekend. I guess that's not very typical, LOL . . But you might see us on the news. I'm sorry it's so cloudy here for our moment of fame.

Don't worry. Nothing much going on in the streets. In fact most people stayed home from work. Not me. Today, where I was, it was like some spooky ghost town, with three new friendly security guards at our building.

Michele Obama and the French first lady toured CAPA High School where my son C. used to go before this year. It's a school for creative and performing arts, a Pittsburgh public school, and it's right downtown next to the convention center.

Ohhhh, Ferraris. A moment of silence. In 1998 I was on the Autobahn near Kaiserslautern doing about 160KPH. Heard a scream coming from behind and a Testa Rossa (could have been a 512) went past me like I was standing still. It was a bright red streak. A moment I shall always remember.

ABC News made Pittsburgh look like the promised land last night. You should watch the clip if you haven't seen it.

What is it with G-20 meetings and violent protesters? I get the feeling they're like a whole subculture that just travels the world enjoying their outrage and their protests the way Trekkies go to Star Trek conventions to meet up with each other and drool over stars...

Meanwhile, most of us in the US would probably just look vague and say, "G-20? Ugh... what's that, again?"

(Like people who aren't Trekkies or SGA fans would go, "Connor Trinneer? Who's that?")

ASSO, great to see photo of you. Like knowing what people look like that are posting in threads.

Navigator. 160 KPH? that is 100 MPH. sort of going slow for the Autorbahn weren't you?
II remember the 11 years I spent in Germany, one thing I know, if you ar in the inside lane your car had beter be able to do over 100MPH or there will be trouble. they don't have accidents they have disasters. Car coming behind, Blinks lights, honks hort, goes for brakes. Between horn and brakes into car ahead.
