That's nothing, I love Clueless, and Clue... Two very different movies each so bad they're good. And I know every word!

Who says Clueless is bad? I think it's brilliant. One of my faves.

And my son, who remembers stats on Rotten Tomatoes the way some kids remember sports stats, says he thinks it has an 83%. (He hasn't seen the movie, actually, he just memorizes the stats. Why can't he do that with his school work????)

Can't speak to the other movie.

In a follow-up to earlier comments, my dad, who confessed to literally counting the days and the hours to the first Gator game of the season, was devastated by it. Mind you, they still won, but they just didn't look like potential national champions. O, the horror!

I didn't mean bad as in "bad" I meant bad as in good. Kids do that now. ;-)

If bad means good, then what the heck do you mean by good?

I like Clueless and Clue... I think it just depends on what you consider "good". Good is completely relative, both in writing and in cinema/television. It depends on what the metric is... that's why there are oscars for technical accomplishments like costuming, SFX, cinematography, etc; and then for artistic elements like acting, directing and writing. I don't like clinging to those conventions of 'good' and 'bad' where movies like "Eight Days a Week" and "Clueless" are "bad" :)

Me too!!

I never get tired of this movie. It's one of my go-tos when I'm down and depressed...I always feel better by the time it's over.

That's a *good* movie.

Clueless is the best movie version on Jane Austen's Emma - better than the period versions because it captures the spirit of the character so well.

I never said the movie was bad as in icky bad. I have a huge crush on Paul Rudd so I can't actually do that. But I think the period versions are superior. Ewan McGregor and Jeremy Northam cannot be surpassed. I never like the "bad boys" and I want to be miss Fairfax, with Ewan's cruddy wig and all. I will grant that if I had to choose between Alicia Silverstone's Cher, and Gwenyth Paltrow's Emma, I'd go with Alicia Silverstone simple because she was more genuine in the role. However if Kira Knightly wasn't my age, but 10 years older and she had played Emma she would have gotten my vote. While not "texbook" her portayal of Elizabeth Bennet is hands down the best one I've seen.

Love Clueless and Clue.

My absolute secret pleasure is The Gameplan. Sad but true. Duane "The Rock" Johnson can do no wrong. *le sigh*

Feel free to throw sticks at me now. LOL

Usually I like films like Serenity and The Island. And Mr & Mrs Smith is loads of fun. Can you blame a girl who was raised by her dad with Arnold Schwarzeneggar films? (Total Recall being my fav. of his work) There really was no hope for me in being anything but the tomboy I am.

My favorite scene Schwarzeneggars is when he is trying to get some clothes and ends up in a bar and asked the guy on stage for his clothes. "Talk to the hand" is the response and so he does. Cracked me up the first time I saw it.
To have a social life with hubs I watch what he watches, mostly to my own entertainment (American Football, science fiction).
So yesterday we were watching a "Bruce. The Man"- movie and there is one scene inwhich Bruce Willis as John McClane get shot by a fire fighter and survives. I couldn't resist commenting that this wasn't a very believeable situation. Hubs' response: "Of course it is. Because he is John McClane." Yes, dear.

My favorite Emma is the Romola Garai (sp?) version the BBC put out recently. Kate Beckinsale was quite fun, too. I'm not a big fan of the Gwyneth Paltrow version, though I did like the casting for Mr. Knightley (yum). But Alicia Silverstone is an absolutely hysterical contemporary version of the character. Way broader humor than the novel, but oh what a hoot that movie is -- it has so much fun. I love it.

Hey who can resist The Game Plan? It's adorable! Mr. & Mrs. Smith is great for curing a bad day. It's probably my favorite action movie of all time. Serenity, the only flaw it has is Wash's death. Never saw The Island... I was desperate to see Salt but no cash, so waiting for Netflix. Love all of the Fast and Furious movies, Gone In 60 Seconds, and when edited for TV nothing beats a good dose of The Matrix Neo and Trin forever! But I'm sorry to say I never liked Arnold Schwazeneggar... Something just doesn't let me relax and enjoy. Liam Neeson was as good if not better than Jason Bourne in Taken, I keep hoping for a part 2.

I want to see the new BBC versions of Jane Austen, my sister LOVED the new Emma. I have to wait and hopefully they'll come out on DVD.

That newer version of Emma is out on DVD already. Netflix has it; I watched it that way last spring.

Salt was filmed partly in Albany. That doesn't happen very often.

Totally. This super-bimbo who is really quite a good and selfless person.

Clueless is actually a lot better of a film if you have seen Emma and know what it is supposed to be. And they got a lot of good young actors for it. I can't really stand Alicia anymore, cause she chews her face so much and is so self-conscious-seeming (like, not shy, but literally "conscious of self") while she's talking nowadays. But in The Crush and Clueless, she was quite brilliant.
