Re: Randomness
I'd like to see these paintings up close too. I saw one locally on the side of a building that seemed to change perspective as you moved past it. Street art is fascinating and even some graffiti is very artistic. Not that I promote graffiti! It usually is destructive. But planned murals on buildings are great. There are several in the Milwaukee area that do an historical sequence of local relevance. I suppose that this is common in other cities?
Working on a major fan fic project. Two-thirds done. Hope to put it up in the not TOO distant future.

Re: Randomness
I think it's very cool but I'd hate to see some of those things become permanent decoration outside my own window. The constant cognitive dissonance must be kind of unnerving. And I have to wonder how toddlers react.
OMG, ANOTHER new chapter! NORTH STAR Chapter 28

Re: Randomness
Not all the 3-D art I've seen is of such an apocalyptic nature. Sometimes it's been skyscapes, Grand Canyon kind of stuff, etc. So yeah, still a little disorienting, but very beautiful! I wouldn't mind seeing that every day, especially if I still lived in the city where things are just generally dirty, gross, and ugly any way.

Re: Randomness
I have seen no apocalyptic art in Milwaukee, just ethnic themed stuff and local history stuff. I suppose it could distract drivers passing by it. Yes I think it could disorient toddlers and make them thing that real holes in the ground are only illusions. But it is not like there is an apocalyptic piece of art on every street, right? I am not sure how much of a problem this would be.

Yes, it is common in Pittsburgh. Pittsburgh is broken down into many distinctive neighborhoods, probably because it is so hilly. The neighborhoods started up separately by different ethnic groups and then ran into each other (unlike Philadelphia, which seems to be laid out on a grid). There are weird five-way intersections in Pittsburgh where these neighborhoods meet up. So most neighborhoods have a mural painted locally describing the neighborhood.

Thanks all!
Those street paintings are wild. Some people come up with the wildest ideas and, crucially, have the talent to pull it off.

Re: Randomness
In case anyone will be wondering, I'm going to be AWOL until Monday-Tuesday next week. I'm taking a little Easter vacation and going to fly and visit my sister, who lives in Aachen, Germany. So I'll not be online much.
Happy Easter, or as we say in Sweden, GLAD PÅSK everyone!

Re: Randomness
Happy Easter, our friend.

Well yes. I continue to write. And on Fanfiction.Net, for those who want, it is possible to cast a glance at my latest efforts. We arrived to
The Ears of the Elves, chapter Forty-four
And here is the beginning of the whole story.

But, I must say, you could also find something else on Fanfiction.net written by me. If you want.

Whoa! Aachen, almost exactly like the race from SG1 that tried to neuter the entire population of Earth. It was Aaschen.
