I've heard of a case were a US soldier drank 10 liters of water and died. To my knowledge the maximum amount of water you can drink is 6 liters. The kidneys can't handle safely much more and you can die.

Well yes. I continue to write. And on Fanfiction.Net, for those who want, it is possible to cast a glance at my latest efforts. We arrived to
The Ears of the Elves, chapter Forty-four

And here is the beginning of the whole story.

But, I must say, you could also find something else on Fanfiction.net written by me. If you want.

T'Poptarts, the university in Wisconsin were I work has a rule that you have to be 30 feet from the enterance of any building before you can smoke. There might be other buildings in California that have a similar rule. If there are, you can show copies of such rules to your building managers and maybe they will put such a rule in place.

A woodpecker had selected the wall outside my bedroom to drill on. Setting aside the damage he must be doing, he's a really early riser. :?

It's flavored with passionfruit
an appropriate ingredient, don't you think?

Have you tried shooting him? Just make sure you use birdshot and from an angle so as not to damage your house. ;)

I don't want to totally bum you out, but if you have a woodpecker working on your house you may have bigger problems. He's pecking to reach food, i.e. bugs. We had a woodpecker pecking on our house once and it turned out we had carpenter ants. Take a good look around the area frequented by the woodpecker. It might even be worth it to get an exterminator to come in and take a peek.

So I think I'm allergic to the heartworm pills we were packaging at the Otha job today. I had on a long sleeve flannel shirt over a tee shirt, and sometime in the last two hours I got hot and took off the flannel. Not long after that, the skin above my wrists got a rash, just about 2-3 inches wide, on both forearms. My hands were covered with gloves, but I was reaching into the box-o-pills about that deep, to where the rash ended. The pills were packaged in cellophane strips, but you know, sometimes they break or there's a loose pill in the box or something.

Well, that'll learn me, I guess. No more going without sleeves.

Guess I'll take a Benedryl.

My DVR has been seriously acting up lately. It does record stuff as it should, and I have no trouble playing DVDs that I've bought. But 4 times out of 5 it refuses to read stuff on discs I've burnt on that same machine, not to mention that it will hardly burn anything now - at least not after a gazillion tries. :-x

I'll have to see if it can be fixed somehow. I guess I could always buy a new one, but the problem is that I have a number of recordnings burnt on discs using this machine. And I only recently discovered that you have to "finalise" each disc after having burnt them, otherwise they won't play on other machines. And I have a lot of unfinalised discs.

Stupid concept! How was I to know you had to "finalise" discs? You never had to bother with stuff like that on VHS tapes. You just recorded and then they could be played on any VHS machine. :bitch:

Grrrrr....

You know, writing novels is already a challenging and unprofitable enough undertaking without the thought of having to write a whole ton of variations on them at the same time:

http://ideas.blogs.nytimes.com/2009/05/ ... -tolls/?hp

I mean, you pretty much write a story the way you feel in your bones it should come out. Not the way every possible reader might prefer to take it.

Though I guess this could be good for writers if someone wants to start paying by the the word...

This video game infestation (my attitude is showing, eh?) has me worried. All my grandson wants to do is play the games. His homework is suffering which is too bad because he is a bright kid - got awards nationally for a science project last year. I sat with him for a half hour to watch him play and the scenery was so realistic in the game that it was mesmerizing. It was some scenario where a platoon of soldiers land on a planet and looks for an enemy in the jungle and at various camps. You had the choice of going in any direction and the choices of paths seemed endless. But the scenery left nothing to the imagination. It didn't make your mind work like it does when you read a book. I do hope teens of today are not loosing their ability to enjoy reading and I hope they are reading more than Twilight.

My son broke his nose. :( And got 23 stitches in his lip. :( And has loose teeth. :( He ran into a tree playing frisbee at a friend's house yesterday. What a mess. He's okay, though. A bit banged up, but okay. The joys of parenthood...

OUCH!!!!

And poor Mommy!

Maybe he'll figure if he can do that to himself just running after a frisbee, he could do even worse damage in a car...

That must have given you a scare, Bether. Kids break things in the strangest ways. You just can't protect them from all the hurts. :? I hope you and he both feel better soon.
