Sorry for my outburst :? Guess I had to unload somewhere. We were bored to tears with that election race that no flying expletive is given about for weeks now all over the media. Guess some frustration has been building up

You think YOU were bored ... try actually being here and living through the campaign commercials! Imagine being in OHIO.

Not that I was bored at all, actually, because I'm a history/politics geek. I sometimes fantasize about living in Manchester, New Hampshire just so I can see all the candidates in person and volunteer for campaigns without having to travel. But the endless commercials will make anyone want to kill after awhile, and we don't even live in a swing state. Just the three our four congressional districts in our viewing area and a bunch of local state races were enough to poison the air waves for months.

I cannot imagine being in Ohio, because I've never been to Americaland, but having seen what I saw the last few weeks, quite frankly, I don't even want to. I'm not trying to be rude, but for the average European it is an absolute mystery, how someone can lawfully rise to the highest office in one of the worlds most powerful states, who is too intellectually challenged by eating a pretzel without asphyxiating  It sort of worked in Italy, where a crook like Berlusconi could seize office, but for the rest of the western continent, the candidates usually have a higher IQ than a loaf o' bread.
I admit, I was glued to the TV four years ago, because all of Europe was rooting for Obama, but the result is bleak at best. He promised to close the concentration camp at Guantanamo, but he didn't. He promised change, but none came, yet he is elected again, because America chose between pest and Cholera, frankly.
I admire the patience of American people, putting up with the same brown stuff every four years. Wouldn't happen in Europe - or at least Germany and many other western European states. When we last time got fed up with our government, the Berlin wall fell.

Edit: By brown stuff I don't refer to Obama's tan - it is meant as a euphemism for a word that starts with 's' and ends with 't' and isn't 'soot' ;)

Anyway, I just hope we won't get spammed with that stuff in four years again, because, whoever you guys vote for, you get the same thing anyways, just with a varying level of fundamentalist Christian zealotry :dunno:

May I have one word about the election campaign?

Our phone did not stop ringing. Not too many Tv ads, but enough.

One thing that always struck me was that the Europeans didn't trust anyone (Politican) who did not have a lover or mistress.

I understand that the two parties are already gearing up for 2016. Maybe I will be feeble minded by then and won't be aware of it.

Forget the election. I finally watched that video and I'm still trying to digest Weeble as a punk rocker!

And I had such hopes for you, Kotik, after your review post. Just avoid discussing all politics forever and for all time here, okay?

Except for Federation politics, that is.

Well Federation politics is going to come at some point in the second sequel to "Words" - the first one will cover the war. Well at least I now have a good idea how NOT to do it  On the upside, we're going to be left in peace for almost four years

Are you by any chance referring to the video of the wall-of-death I posted from last years Pagan fest?

I don't think the last one he showed us had anything to do with punk rocking. Scenery was nice, though.
