Okay, I had something fantastic happen last night - I remembered that I had put a copy of a fully loaded, up and running version of Paint Shop Pro 7 (with all my plugins, masks, tubes and other stuff, it takes up 450 MBs the way I had it set up) on a 4 GB flash drive a couple of years ago so that I could take it along with me over to my sister & brother-in-law's house when I used to puppy-sit Biscuit for them while they were working (Biscuit's my sister's Shar-pei, and Laurie's since become disabled so she's now home all day to take care of him herself). Anyway, I was emailing a fellow fan artist I know to tell her about some cool portable graphics programs I found recently and extolling the virtues of how cool I think it is that portable programs don't get installed into Windows when suddenly a revelation dawned on me that ding-ding, I got Paint Shop Pro 7 on a flash drive, so that's portable, and just because it's not compatible with Windows 7 - it should still be able to run from the flash drive itself (and also from the folder I saved a backup copy to on my hard drive that I just created a shortcut for to put on the desktop), so I dug out my old flash drive with PSP7 and all its toys on, transferred a copy of it on the hard drive, and made a shortcut to put on the desktop - and wa-la, it works just fine! Oh, I get a nag screen from Windows when I start PSP7 telling me its not in the registry and how to correct that problem, but I just ignore that completely (I'm not touching the registry over a program Windows 7 wouldn't let me install normally to begin with!) and the first time I shut it off, Windows asked if it installed correctly so I just marked it "yes" and now I've got my dearly beloved Paint Shop Pro 7 back again - Thank God!!!! Now I don't need to struggle to learn Photoshop or Paint Shop Pro 10 Photo X10 or whatever the hell it's called (that seemed just as damn complicated/confusing to figure out as Photoshop itself), so now I don't have to struggle forever working on making a fake or trying to learn a complicated/confusing program I hated using (programmers of complicated, confusing software should have the "KISS" principle drilled in to their thick skulls (i.e. Keep It Simple, Stupid!). Oh, Thank God I saved Paint Shop Pro 7 to a flash drive so I can bypass it being incompatible with Windows 7 - I was about ready to throw my brand new computer out the f---ing window I was getting so irritated trying to learn these new complicated and confusing graphics programs I was beginning to hate with a passion, LOL. (I don't know why Windows 7 has to be so damn fussy about what software it will be backwards compatible with - when I first tried to install Paint Shop Pro 7 normally, it refused to let me and told me I'd need to use Windows XP with an 800x600 display - and that's a bunch of crap, it runs just fine as a portable program as long as Windows 7 isn't aware that you're using an incompatible program there). Nice how "portable" software is just like telling Windows 7 to sit down and shut up, I'm going to use this so called incompatible program whether it likes it or not. (But don't get me started on my complaints against Windows, I'm an old computer geek since the 80's and I haven't been happy with a Windows system since 3.1 - now that was a cool system you actually had control over (instead of a computer telling you what you could do). You ran into a problem on 3.1 - all you had to do was reformat your hard drive and reinstall 3.1 and wa-la, problem solved, you didn't need to bring it into Best Buy to have a tech solve problems some stupid system wouldn't let you solve for yourself or take control over). Anyway, glad I was able to get PSP7 up and running again "portably" here so I could tell my brand new Windows 7 computer to go straight to hell with it's "incompatibilty issues" on my favorite program, LOL!

I'm glad you have got a working solution again, but it should have been possible even without your life-saving thumb drive. Windows provides a free emulator that provides a 32-bit XP environment to run your legacy software, even if it won't work properly using the standard WoW 32bit support.

http://www.withinwindows.com/2009/04/24 ... windows-7/

http://www.microsoft.com/windows/virtua ... nload.aspx

If you ever lose your copy of PSP7 or move to a system where you can't run it for whatever reason, you also have the option of using the free GNU Image Manipulation Program (GIMP) http://www.gimp.org/.

I know you enjoy seeing pictures of a scantily-clad Trip and I don't begrudge you that, but don't you think the poor chap must be lonely without pictures of T'Pol in a similar state? ;-)

Hi Cogito -

Thank you a million for telling me about that, I just thought I was totally out of luck at first there when it refused to let me do it normally because I didn't have a copy of Windows XP I could overwrite Windows 7 with. Oh, thank you SO Much for telling me about that (in case if I run into any further problems installing any other old software here that I don't have a portable version of, (I'm still in the process of getting this new computer set up here). Anyway, I think WarpGirl was right in the remark she made about you being awesome in the post above mine, you're not only awesome - but you're an angel for sharing your Windows expertise with me there as well too. I've never tried GIMP - but thanks for telling me about it, it sounds cool and definately something I'm gonna check out (I love cool freeware too!). Yep, I definately love a scantily clad Trip (I don't know if you seen my apology post here, but I ran into a full series of these nice "jungle underwear" pics on a beefcake blog I follow, so there's several more of those type fakes I'm itching to make (years ago I even won an award for a Quantum Leap underwear fake I made of our dear Captain). But yeah, I do tend to get a bit "Trip obsessed" (as far as being primarily interested in him as a subject in my fakes) But you're right - I shouldn't just focus on him so much, there's T'Pol fans here too and yep - I do imagine he's getting lonely for scantily clad T'Pol fakes too. Point taken, I'll get right to work on that and try to watch it so I'm being more fair and considerate of what others want to see too, not just what I like doing the most, that was pretty selfish of me and I honestly do appreciate your pointing out that bit of helpful criticism there (I don't deliberatly try to be selfish or screw up intentionally, but I do need T'Pol fans to remind me of "hey, let's play fair here" because not everyone here is a horny old lady like I am with a Trip obsession. (I will do T'Pol next and will try to be more fair in the future, sorry about that and thank you for pointing that out). Marc

Oh, no no no. I wasn't criticising at all. Merely pointing out that Trip (and perhaps others :shifty: ) might appreciate some female eye candy if you ever felt inclined to produce any.

Thats totally fine, Cogito - don't worry about that for one second here, and I want to apologize to you for using the term 'helpfull criticism" (that was a poor choice of words on my part) but I didn't take it personal or in a bad way at all whatsoever, I should've just said thanks for the 'heads up' on that or for reminding me that I need to catch up to my T'Pol fakes and to be more sensitive to the members who's favorite character is her, not Trip. I apologize for not phrasing that better, but as a former philosophy major (back when I was in college 30 years ago) hey, I happen to LOVE getting all the helpfull criticism I can get and think of it as a reminder on something I should keep in mind or need some help remembering to focus on - (relax, you ran into another lady who'd dispassionatly react like T'Pol would there, BTW - since I mentioned philosophy here, I couldn't help but be attracted to your cool username, is that meant as a reference to Descartes' "Cogito Ergo Sum" or just meant to let the other members here know that you're primarily a fan of our pointy eared character? In any case, point taken - I do need to catch up on getting the guys some female eye candy to look at too, not just concentrate on "brute beauty" for the other gals here like me.

Hi Silverbullet,

So sexy pics of T'Pol brings out the DOM in you, eh? Yeah, I can kind of understand what thats like, sort of - sexy Trip pics do make me wonder if I'm not the modern day version of Mae West, because I've definatly got my mind planted firmly in the gutter where he's concerned, LOL!

Marc, you remmeber Mae's famous line to Cary Grant: "Is that a Gun in your pocket or are you just happy to see me"

Well for a DOM that would be a memory. But we still appreciate the female form and beauty. Not dead yet.

Yeah, I remember that line, I love Mae West (I hope I've seen all of her films, I know I've seen some of them more than once), she actually does kind of remind me of me in a way (as far as having a dirty mind, being oversexed in general and being a ballsy enough broad to discuss that in public openly - as if anyone hadn't already guessed as much from seeing some of my R rated fakes, LOL!

And I know what you mean about "not dead yet" too, I'll be 55 next month and I still look at Trip with pure lust in my heart!!!!

Thank you. I'm hoping to really shake it up a bit. It's been a while since I've been to the native land.

Okay Cogito that means wearing stuff that shows a lot of skin and flaunting your figure.
