I'm back home after spending one week helping a friend in another town move and another week at my parents'. It's good to be home again, sleeping in my own bed (for as long as I want) and using my own computer again.

I have a random question: Is there any real difference between an MP3 player and an Ipod? Why does one cost so much more than the other? If you have a Sony CD player that says it can accept an MP3 player, does that mean it will also accept an Ipod? And does cost matter at all with these things or is it just memory and a good pair of earphones?

I want to be able to cart vids around, but I also want to be able to record music at my folks' -- and maybe get some people telling stories. (My Dad has a little recording studio set up.) I want to make a video for their 50th anniversary next May.

There is not functional difference between an iPod and an MP3 player made by another company. iPods cost more because they're iPods, that's the only difference.

Some iPods also play video. But there's other cheaper mp3/video players out there from other companies.

My el cheapo 2GB Samsung plays video too, and can do pictures and everything else an iPod can do, it just cost a lot less.

Thanks for the tips. My husband just got me a Sony walkman MP3 player for my birthday, and I've been playing with it all night. It seems to be working fine, though I'm going to have to find a way to convert my video files to play on it. Any rate, this should really help me scan pictures and download stuff at my folks' so I can get to work on that anniversary video. Gives me something to do with Dad in August in Inverness, too, which ain't exactly the liveliest tourist spot in the state.

And I'm up too late playing with it and doing this. G'night.

Took me half an hour to figure out how to download the thing. Now I can't figure out how to use it. I don't even seem to be able to drag and drop into it. <Sigh.>
