Sorry, bad words in the song.

Why do you think I put (NSFW) on it?

I wouldn't know without googling, because I'm an old lady. Remember the old ladies on the site (not me of course). And possibly children. Sorry people.

I'm in the process now of trying to decide whether or not to have my child formally tested for an autism spectrum disorder. It's all a little mind-boggling right now. Teachers are having difficulty getting Emily to respond in class and there is little to no eye contact. She doesn't interact at all with her peers. I wish it was just her being strong-willed, though I think this is a part of it. Her therapist is wanting to refer her to someone who is an expert in this field. Whenever he starts trying to get her to talk about her feelings, she starts hitting me. :( I always thought she's just shy, like me...only with a bad temper. How could I have been so stupid? I wish somehow that being a parent meant you knew what was best. Unfortunately that is not always the case. I'll keep trying. Don't know what else I can do at this point.

Oh Bether, certainly it's not easy for you not to get disheartened, but please do not crack.
I'm short of words. I don't know what I may tell you.
But... please... think a remedy always exists. :)
Well yes. I continue to write. And on Fanfiction.Net, for those who want, it is possible to cast a glance at my latest efforts. We arrived to

And here is the beginning of the whole story.

But, I must say, you could also find something else on Fanfiction.net written by me. If you want.

Yes, good vibes. It must be so frustrating.

If it is autism, the sooner you get a diagnosis the sooner you can get her the right help. And perhaps you can feel a little relief in knowing that this is something ANY parent would find enormously challenging. You could also probably find some much-needed support from other parents coping with the same diagnosis.

There is always the temptation to blame yourself. But there is a limit to how much a parent can do for a child. Especially if there is a physical cause. Right now you are doing the best thing possible, getting her in to see the professionals who can diagnose and treat her. Just make sure to be there and stay on top of what happens with her. That's all any parent can do. Plus, it might not be autism. It could be something else. Or something else could be aggravating the problem that might be easier to fix. You won't know until they finish checking. Keep the faith. You are getting her the help she needs. That's all you can do. Plus loving her and praying.

Hey, Bether, I can empathize. But I have no answers either! Not even any suggestions. Sometimes it just takes so darn long to figure out what is wrong. When it takes multiple professionals awhile to nail down the cause, you really can't blame yourself for not figuring it out sooner! :?
Working on a major fan fic project. Two-thirds done. Hope to put it up in the not TOO distant future.

Thanks everyone. A little support goes a long way sometimes. My own brother has classic autism so it is in my family. I have always had a tendency to want to blame myself for things, but it honestly doesn't serve any purpose here. And because I've had such a close relationship myself with this therapist, I trust him implicitly. He's said he isn't sure, but "his ears are perked" about the possibility that she has some form of PDD. He also said not to catastrophize this...that it doesn't change anything about her. It only gives it a name. I'm doing okay, I'd say. It's just kind of a shock. Makes you not want to ever take anything for granted again. As I was telling JT before, we'll just take things one day at a time and go from there.

Different whine: First tick of the season just crawled down my hand. :( And all we did was walk through the yard to get to the road. AND I was wearing bug dope. I hate them!

I shall whine about my professors. They were supposed to post all of our grades for this quarter by past Friday, and only one of them has done so. :?

Isn't it aggravating when not even the people in charge do what they're supposed to do? Grrr.

Probably some dean deeply unpopular with the faculty decreed that Friday thing, not the professors.
