Thanks everyone! :D I find myself appreciating the college experience more this time around, and the grades really factor in that. Yeah, I still go through a certain amount of "woulda, coulda, shoulda" every day, but this is the closest I'm gonna come to a do-over, and since this is about living up to my potential, then I better have good things to show for it.

It's like I always tell my sister, life is not like Stargate or Star Trek, no time loops, no Q, no do-overs. 99.9% percent of regrets are absolutely useless. You can't change the past, you can only use it to make your future better. So stop beating yourself up, have fun, and continue to make your life better. Because all of the energy you waste regretting stuff can be put to something useful.

And regret can be useful in that it keeps us from making the same mistakes over again. So I think I'll hang on to mine for the moment. It's not like I said it was taking over my life or something. But if wishing I'd done it right the first time fuels my desire to do it right this time and kind of make up for it, then it isn't hurting anything.

There is a difference between learning from prior mistakes and regret.

There is nothing wrong or abnormal about looking back and saying "Gee, I wish I'd done things differently." Everybody does that at some time in their lives. Obviously I'm doing okay since my grades are good and I'm happy about that and I'm not suffering.

At any rate, I'm not going to continue to defend how I feel or what's motivating me. That's not what this thread is for. I don't owe anyone any explanations--just myself. If I did, I'd go from feeling :D and  like I did in my initial post tonight, to  pretty quick-like.

Who was asking you to defend yourself? I was trying to be nice, trying to encourage you to keep on feeling good about your amazing accomplishments. Sorry you feel like concern and encouragements are attacks that you must defend yourself with.

WG--again, like the other thread, I feel like you're ascribing things to me that simply aren't there, stuff like "beating yourself up" and "wasting energy." And no matter what I say, you come back at me because there seems to be some perception that there is something wrong with what I'm feeling or what I've done about it, stuff that doesn't even involve anyone here except for the fact that I've chosen to share it, which is why I might feel the need to defend it when there seems to be a value judgment made on it. I don't want to NOT get along here, but I'm feeling a bit hammered at, especially between the two threads. I just came by to this one tonight to thank people for their well-wishes and support, and I added a little something about my experience so far, and my own feelings about my own situation are practically being labeled "a waste of time." If you're happy for me, thank you. If you're concerned about me, thank you. But please don't jump to the conclusion that there's some big problem just because I exposed and shared a vulnerability or insecurity or something. We all have them, after all. They aren't always rational, but they are there.
