Ouch. Sounds painful.What i usually recommend for small second degree burns is to just keep them clean and covered until they heal. Probably would be better to use an antibiotic burn ointment on it rather than cortisone, since cortisone slows healing and increases the risk of infection. I'd suggest asking your pharmacist which one he'd recommend. An anti-inflammation med like ibuprofen by mouth might help for the pain. That and a gauze dressing. If it itches while it's healing, a dose of Benadryl (diphenhydramine) at bedtime might also help. At least it'll help you sleep. But if the burn starts seeping more or gets more red, see a doctor. Infection can deepen a burn injury.
