When I was about 10 I really did punch a girl in the face and my mom made me go to her house to apologize  not because I was being like, abusive, I just didn't get how girls were "less than" men in a chivalrous sense, I didn't see the distinction in not punching a girl vs. a guy . Of course today I do!

Just teasing dearie, just teasing. Jeeze two of my brothers often say they wished they could punch me when we were kids.

Thanks guys, I can't tell you how good it is to be back talking about Trek and mixing with some old chums :D I can't tell you how wonderful it is to see the site alive and kicking, thriving even! So much good fanfic that I need to catch up on!!!!

Oh, someone asked me if I was the same Starwatcher as at HoT, I think so, but my FF skills have mucho improved since then :D I'll have to post something when I get it up to a standard that I'm pleased with

Welcome back, starwatcher! I remember you from HoT. So what is the subject of your doctoral thesis? I assume it has anything to do with your study of U.S. history? "The influence of Star Trek on U.S. history and the rest of the world?" ;-)

*Sighs* - I wish :-) would have made the researching and writing process of LOT easier! Instead I found that Trek was more of a diversion from the PhD, but a welcome one, all the same. My PhD was primarily on economic history, particularly the New Deal - not terribly trendy or popular, I'm afraid :-( but I enjoyed it all the same!!!

I would think that would be pretty damned relevant these days.

I really enjoyed an American Experience piece on the Civilian Conservation Corps this week.

Yes, it certainly is!! Maybe someone in the new govt. will whisk me away to some kind of lucrative advisory job....... ;) There is a fairly sizeable academic sub-division devoted to all things Trek, so maybe I should tap into that - then I can legitimately spend hours talking about T'Pol, Trip et al and not feel as though I'm neglecting my work!

Gah, I hate these things, but feel I must do it:

Hi, I'm aadarshinah, *pauses for halfhearted greeting from the gathered* and I have an addiction. I suppose it's probably pretty obvious what it is since I'm here, but it is still an addiction, and places like these help me self-medicate until someone on high decides the time is right for another Star Trek series.

I found this place through Alelou, who was kind enough to tell me about it after I started posting http://www.fanfiction.net/s/6066414/1/A_Grief_Shared over at ff.net. "A Grief Shared" isn't my first fanfic - I've done stuff with Harry Potter and Twilight in the past, and have another story going for Mass Effect - but it is my first Star Trek/TnT fic.

Let's see, what else? I've been a Trekkie since before I was born - my mother watched them when she was pregnant with me, and taped episodes were a staple of my formitive years - and, though I'm here, DS9 is probably my favourite of the bunch; love SyFy of all sorts - Asminov, Orson Scot Card, Chyrrh, Alistair Reynolds, Douglas Adams, Farscape, Star Wars, you name it, I've probably seen/read it.

I'm over-educated, under-employed, and a Trekkie. That's about it.

*sighs and ducks out of the room*
