"We have Met the Enemy and He is PowerPoint"
Fascinating article about PowerPoint use in the military. Following the links gets you to stuff that is even more fascinating. There's one about includes examples of how some NASA ppts have gotten very f'd up as they make their way up the chain of command, to the point where they completely contradict themselves. You can also look at a very, very basic (and funny) PowerPoint from a soldier in Iraq that may have sparked the successful surge policy in Iraq.

Re: Randomness
To give newly baked brownies to a three year old who likes to play Cookie monster, is not a bright idea.
Love is a verb.

Ha ha! I can picture that. Ok, now for some extreme randomness:
Revlon Age Defying Face Illuminator. Ladies, it's a foundation that is IN FACT an Age defying face illuminator. Looks like sparkly calomine lotion as you paint it on, then it looks like you are wearing no makeup at all but are glowing slighly in a completely natural way from having been out in the sun. I discovered this about two weeks ago.

Re: Randomness
Sounds cool, but that would mean actually wearing foundation.

Cool. But I still need enough coverage to cover the zits. Sigh.
One would think that a person only 4 years younger than the average age of menopause would have outgrown acne, but no.

Re: Randomness
Yeah, what's up with that? I think it only gets worse as I get older. (I keep it under control with a generic salicylic acne scrub from Target at night and a benzoyl peroxide 10% cleanser in the morning ... morning because that way I'm less likely to ruin all my pillows with peroxide bleaching.)

Re: Randomness
It has amazing coverage. I'm wondering if this (or something like it) is what Kara DioGuardi is wearing on American Idol.

Re: Randomness
Sadly, this version makes more sense than the original. Very creative way to have fun over there.

This one was NOT filmed in a war zone, but the Air Force Academy's take on Tik Tok is still funny:

Re: Randomness
So about 8:30 this morning, my husband's cell phone rings.
Husband: "Hello?" (pause) "Uh, no, sorry, you've got the wrong number." *Click-laugh*
Me: "What's so funny?" (Very confused at this point, because usually wrong number calls irritate him)
Husband: "Uh, someone with a rather emotionless, Vulcan-like voice just called and asked for Trip."
Me: "OMG, they're real."
Despite it being TnT related, that didn't really seem like it belonged in the TnT forum....lol....but I just had to share. Apparently, they're real and they're in my town...bwahaha

Glad I read this now. Within the next couple of days I need to go buy foundation. I've been using Cover Girl TruBlend, which really isn't bad at all (I like that you only have to come "close" to your skin tone--it kind of idiot-proofs the whole thing), but I'm always open for trying something new.
Thanks for the tip!

Wow! I wonder if this is was someone who knows you like TnT or just totally random.
RE: That infamous PowerPoint slide. At the end of last year, it was used for one of my favorite Colbert Report bits. (If you're not aware, Colbert is a satire of ultra-conservative pundits, so it's definitely a more leftist view.)
Personally, I would rather put together PowerPoints than a lot of stuff military personnel have to do. But, you know, that's one of the reasons I didn't join the military (you know, innate squeamishness).

Re: Randomness
I'm pretty sure it was random. We've lived here just under a year, and because I'm super shy I don't really know anyone other than my husband's friends and my coworkers. I don't know any of my coworkers that well (and Trek has definitely never come up lol) and if it was one of his friends he'd have recognized their voices. It really was just such a random coincidence-especially since I *just* finished Enterprise for the first time like...last week, I think it was?
