Does kitty go with you?
No sadly Kitteh cannot. For a few reasons.... we're afraid of forcing him to adjust to a new place... plus there's no outside for him, and now that it's warm out he's wanting to go out, which we want to encourage because he hasn't in awhile and we think he really likes being outside. Plus the new place doesn't really allow pets. But it's only a few miles away so... for other reasons too (I'm anal about his care and my sister's worthless when it comes to taking care of pets ), I will be coming over here once or twice a day to feed him and make sure he's doing alright. They need (mom and sister) my help making sure the dog (Socrates, shih tzu) is being taken care of too, so it's important. Should work out ok... Tyler works later than me, he works at an AT&T store selling iphones n such... so works till 7 or 8 in the evening, so it won't really affect him at all for me to come over here right after work and take care of them for 15-20 minutes before going back to the new house.
Should be fun.

Re: What are you...
...watching?
I spent the weekend watching the two American civil war movies Gods and Generals and Gettysburg. Truly awesome films, especially the latter. It's a shame they never got round to making the third movie (they're from a trilogy of novels).
What a remarkable and tragic time in American history. And to think that the actually filmed Gettysburg at the real location. The most touching thing, I think, was when old friends like Union General Hancock and Confederate General Armistead wound up on opposing sides, in the case of the battle of Gettysburg quite literally.

The whole American Civil War was like that, KTR. In some instances brothers fought on different sides.

Re: What are you...
I think both those movies are still on my horribly long Netflix list I'll never catch up on. Maybe in retirement, by which time Netflix may not exist any longer...
If you haven't seen Glory, that's another compelling one.

Re: What are you...
Fun little fact. In Gods and Generals, Robert Duvall plays General Lee and is actually a descendant.

Didn't Robert Duvall do The Apostle? I love that film. Such a layered character.

Yeah, I have that on DVD too. Another great movie!
I saw some of the DVD special features of Gettysburg and they talked to some of the reenactors they used for extras, and some of them were descendants to those that had actually been in the real battle, even to the point that the descendants were in the same place as their ancestors had fought.
And a special feature on the Gods and Generals DVD mentioned that a lot of the reenactors they used had to leave since they were reservists and 9/11 happened during filming. They had to add digital soldiers.

Ah, Chamberlain. He's our hometown hero.
I discovered that Hulu has The Outer Limits. Both the old and new. I've watched a few of the new ones and there's some good stuff on there.

I take it you talk about Col. Joshua L. Chamberlain of the 20th Maine. So you're from his hometown?
Terrific guy, the quintessential scholar soldier. What he did defending Little Round Top might even have been a deciding factor for the outcome of the battle of Gettysburg.

Re: What are you...
Being not so happy. Some of you may have read my happy news that I bought a house end of March. Well.. today I heard that due to neglectance of some one and terrible red tape we can kiss our house goodbye. No garden for the kids this summer. It wouldn't be so bitter if this wasn't the first time this kind of things has effected my family.
