Re: The Whine thread.
The diseased ticks are here because the deer are here. They're such a menace. Were your husband's accidents on 43 between Averill Park and Stephentown? There's a place I just plain drop below the speed limit because I've seen so many deer crossing. My stepdaughter totaled her car on a deer on the Thruway six Father's Days ago. Thank God it was just the car and the deer, not her.
Alejandro just threw up half an hour after his morning dose of doxycycline. Clearly the empty stomach approach isn't going to work for him.
My Maine friend's brother has suffered with Lyme Disease for years. He was disabled and out of work because of it for awhile (it was caught late). Now he has a pump installed on his chest so he can get the antibiotic that way. The spirochytes build up in his bloodstream until he gets to be symptomatic, they treat it, he feels sick as a dog because of all the dead spirochytes, then he gets a few months off to feel fairly normal until the next round. Ugh.
They have a vaccine for dogs. I wish they had one for humans. Everyone in the northeast could use it.

Re: The Whine thread.
And I thought Wisconsin was bad for overpopulation of deer! I have never hit one but there are signs all over to watch for deer, wherever there are woods along the roads. They even have been seen occasionally on Wisconsin Avene in Milwaukee - that is main street for a city of 600,000 people! They also swim in Milwaukee Harbor, a hazard for boats.
Oh, and, at Schlitz Audobon Center where deer are protected, they become a nuisance to neighboring homes because they brouse people's hedges and plants. So every so often the deer are rounded up and shipped 200 miles away. But the same individual deer are back at the Audobon Center in a couple of weeks. They know that because the deer at the Audobon Center are tagged.
The population is so bad that Wisconsin has been trying to reestablish wolf packs. And female deer are now allowed to be shot during hunting season.

Working on a major fan fic project. Two-thirds done. Hope to put it up in the not TOO distant future.

Did they recommend a different antibiotic if it's still making him vomit? You probably need to use something strong, though. I hope your doctor is being helpful.
And, yes, he hit them between Rt. 43 and Stephentown. Driving there at 3 AM can sometimes be like driving through a warzone. One of the accidents broke a bone in his back. I don't drive over 30 MPH when I open the store. Anything faster is just plain hazardous. We have had several banged up cars. My husband drives an SUV now.
I hope Alejandro feels better really soon.

Re: The Whine thread.
Thanks. Apparently if you take food (but no dairy) the stuff will still work, and he tolerated this evening's dose fine. And his rash is already showing signs of fading, though I suppose it might have done that anyway.
I talked to a friend in the grocery store today who said her husband has had it THREE TIMES. Which I guess I should tell the account rep at work who told me he had it last year and it was awful but at least he can't get it again now...
And your poor husband, Bether. I've seen some people actually install big racks on the fronts of their cars to absorb deer impact better. Kind of like the cow catchers on old trains, I guess.

Re: The Whine thread.
Whine: The darned university sent the people who administer my student loans a letter saying I'm not enrolled for next semester. Well, duh. That kind of goes with academic leave. But this letter overrides the letter they sent months ago about academic leave. I tried to call last night (time differences make this even harder) but my phone card was out of minutes. I couldn't get it to take my American credit card on the automated system so I had to wait until today to call. Then that took a while to deal with and meanwhile, the guy at the call center (who incidentally sounded like he lives in India where, you know, I don't) started flirting with me on the phone!
All I wanted to do was recharge my phone card! If anyone is that interested in if I'm Miss or Mrs. again, I'm going to invent a fiance and say, "Miss, but only for three more months."
Meanwhile, I need to university to get their act together for once because I really, really don't want this to permanently mar my credit record.

Re: The Whine thread.
Gah. Good luck. It's like being nibbled to death by ducks.
But since you mentioned dating advice on another thread, I have to say -- you could look at flirting with some guy on the phone in India as useful practice. It's not like you have to worry that he's actually going to start stalking you.
Or maybe you do, with the info he must have access to. Sigh.
I went out with an Indian guy in grad school, very casually (long enough to realize he was EXTREMELY proud of being a Brahmin), but the only Indian guy in the dorm I really found interesting was way too observant a Hindu to mess with someone like me. Every once in awhile in life you meet someone who just literally has an aura of cheerful goodness, and he was one of them. I had a friend in junior high who had this almost otherworldly quality about her too -- the light just shone out of her face -- even my mother commented on this about her. Then we moved to different schools and when I met her again in high school all the light had disappeared and I didn't even recognize her until someone told me her name. She was just another angry, messed up teenager running with a very tough crowd. It was very, very weird.

Re: The Whine thread.

But Ive never even once had Lime disease.
Had a cousin get it though. Not fun.
Hope yer kid has a quick recovery Alelou.
Send all those Extra deer this way! Please.
The folks in the Subburbs of PA keep screamin for the Gamecommission to allow for more Deer Hunting, while at the Same time the Deer population out here in the sticks gets lower an lower every year. Reason Being, No One really wants to hunt Deer with a Shotgun, Let alone in Areas where everywhere you look theirs a house in your line of sight. So all the Hunting goes on in the more Rural counties.

TnT I love em.

Re: The Whine thread.
Yeah. Actually, during hunting season I do worry a little about being in my own backyard, and I wear bright colors. I can hear the guns reverberating. You should come to upstate NY for hunting.
They've caught a lot of people here hunting illegally by just putting a statue of a deer off the side of the road in a field and staking it out until they pull off the side in their truck and blast away.
Seems a little unfair to me. Venison gets a fair number of people in this area through the winter.

I join Mitchell in this hope, Alelou.
Well yes. I continue to write. And on Fanfiction.Net, for those who want, it is possible to cast a glance at my latest efforts. We arrived to
The Ears of the Elves, chapter Forty-four
And here is the beginning of the whole story.

But, I must say, you could also find something else on Fanfiction.net written by me. If you want.

Yes. That is the worry. But it's not so much advice I need, per se, as a man worth dating...Alelou wrote:Or maybe you do, with the info he must have access to. Sigh.
Anyway, since you said your son pointed out that your animated avatar could've been better, I presume his health is improving?
Mitchell, it sounds like you need to take a trip to upstate NY during hunting season.
