I see there's a bot called Majestic-12 making the rounds here. I'm not sure what it is for, but I thought the very name quite amusing. Majestic-12

I've also noticed another bot popping up around here, a MSN something-or-other. Not sure what that's all about so I don't know if it's cause for concern or not.

What are you guys talking about? I've heard of bots, but how do you notice it popping up?

It appears in "Who's Online" at the bottom of the page.

Yeah, almost like they're registered members, but their names appear in different colors. I think Majestic-12 appears in purple, and the MSN one appears in orange...though I could have it backward.

As for what the bots do and what they're for, I'm not sure. When I've heard them talked about before I get the impression that they scrounge the internet for stuff, but what specifically, I don't know. I'm sure sites like the Wayback Machine use them for archiving websites and stuff like that.

Here, I usually notice them in the evening; I usually spend most of my time here after 10pm Eastern time, and I pop in and out until sometimes as late as 1 am...but I wanna say I usually see them after 11, and not every day. If I see them again, I'll note the day and time here.

I've never noticed them at my place, but then I use Yuku and not php.bb, so it could be I'm getting visited, too, but they're just showing up as "guests".

Meh, due to the new server, bots aren't an issue anymore, but thanks for bringing it to our attention.
