Story Comments

Postby Distracted » Tue Jan 02, 2007 6:18 pm

Ummm... is anyone else having problems with story comments? I tried to respond to Amok2's response to my comment on her story and I can't comment again. Is that intentional? Are we supposed to start a thread to have a discussion?

Not being someone who feels the need to hold entire conversations in a review thread, I wouldn't know. I leave my review and move on.

At a guess, I'd say that either they realized that we changed their coding to allow multiple comments and restored it back to what they had it set for (which was one comment per person, period). Or else the code would have to be manually changed for each and every story to allow that. Or when the site went down in the middle of the night that it may have affected the settings.

You'll have to wait for dark_rain to come on for your answer, Distracted, he handles that stuff. I do know that the admin panel for that went down awhile ago, when I was trying to add a comment box to a submission, so perhaps they're having issues as well.

How about this one? I'm not sure--get them to march up and down a bit...

Umm, I'm kinda embarrased to say this, but I don't have a clue why! It was fine before, wasn't it?

I've changed the script again, but I promise nothing

Since php compiles at runtime I think it's just an error that happens some of the time in the comment.php file. Sometimes it gets a syntax error and sometimes it doesn't.

But it appears to be fixed Wink

Guess again!

If it errored it would every time! Not just some of the time, computers are consistant, if incompetant.

I think (I hope) that it's fixed now anyway, let me know if it's not!

Thanks!

BTW... Watergirl posted her haikus and I'd love to comment on them, but there's no comment box.

As I said yesterday:

I didn't forget to add one to it, I simply couldn't get it to the site to come up so I could add it.

Internet Explorer. Does it make a difference? It works fine otherwise. It just won't accept a second comment. I write it and do the little security code thingy, and click on post. The comments box says it's "refreshing content" or something, but when it's done I get nada.
