Dang it The guessing is definitely more fun than writing a poem in a foreign language Please don't tar and feather me if it doesn't quite rival Goethe or Schiller...

I wish I had known in advance.
Like a sand fire, he caught me unprepared.
And I dream of bringing peace to my world.
I am chosen to conclude what he started.
I used to follow his guidance,
But now I am the one they seek out for advice.
I seem to be in control.
But I'm really just following his lead.

For people who know me long enough, this should be blatantly obvious. To avoid misleading anyone, I should point out that 'he' refers to two different individuals throughout the writing.
