FROM GENERAL CHAT:

guffaw: Brilliant article, T'Poptarts! And yeah, I never thought of it before, but yeah, Trip fits more of the Jean Grey character. Lorian as "Rachel" and Baby Elizabeth as "Nate". Hee!

Malcolm as Bishop? OK, that's wicked. Wasn't Bishop a former policeman or something?

And T'Pol as Storm? I can see that too...and why did she end up with the Black Panther as a husband??? :dunno:

I don't know too much about X-Men.
Would you like to explain to me what you want to mean? :?

Here's a bit of an introduction, Asso:

http://www.en.wikipedia.org/wiki/X-Men

They're a comic book superhero group from Marvel Comics. Each one is a mutant (genetically enhanced/changed), and as a result, each one has unique superpowers.

The head of the X-Men is Professor Charles Xavier, who runs a school for mutants. They live in a world where mutants are feared and shunned because they're "different". Xavier wants to see "normal" Humans and mutants live together in harmony. Of course, you have complications (other mutants and humans, galactic crises, etc.) that make that a challenge.

Because they are Writers Without Logic. I mean, Ororo "I have the weight of the Universe over my shoulders" Munroe with T'Challa "I'm so cool people call me Black Panther, baby" don't fit too well. They are too proud and too commited with their own agendas.

Asso wrote:I don't know too much about X-Men.
Would you like to explain to me what you want to mean? :?

Ororo Munroe is Storm "mistress of the elements. She's known for being the supermodel that everybody desires, but never dates because she's so... well, unreachable. Although she looks cold and aloof most of the time, she's really passionate (but she can't show it because her mood influences the weather.)

Lady Rainbow wrote:Malcolm as Bishop? OK, that's wicked. Wasn't Bishop a former policeman or something?

I can see the scene:

Malcolm: (histeric) You don't understand, I have to stop the future!
Trip: Um, sure Mal... calm down.
Malcolm: No, no, listen to me... You are going to die, all of you are going to die!
T'Pol: And you know this information because...
Malcolm: I'm from the future!
T'Pol: Vulcan Science Directorate has determined that-
Malcolm: You are going to die! I have to prevent it. I have to stop the traitor.
Trip: Traitor? Which traitor?
Malcolm: (pointing at Archer) Him!

Besides, if I remember correctly, Bishop had a crush on Storm, so it fits

BWAHAHAHAHA!!!! :guffaw:

OK, so that makes Archer a Gambit-like character. Maybe he's Future Guy?

Oh Lady Raimbow, thanks!
But I wanted to mean something else.
When X-men started, on 1963, I was a young adolescent (13 years old! Man! How time passes!) and I enjoyed them: they were a novelty and they were strange.
Afterwards I lost interest about them. They were ingenuous and the story of Mutants was a very old story (for me). In fact, I can't perfectly understand this "revival". But I'm a little bit old, I think.
I simply wanted to know the exact meaning of your sentence.
Anyway what Escriba wrote is very explanatory.
And amusing! :guffaw: :guffaw: :guffaw:

Archer and Future Guy being the same person... mmmm... interesting. But I see Archer more like Magneto ("I'm right, I'm right, I'm always right".)

T'Pol could be Sage too (I'm a fan of Sage, by the way.)

And Hoshi definitively is Kitty Pryde. Travis could be Jubilee: "who will be on the team but won't do or say anything."

Gambit fans, The Gambit Guild has been around for nearly ten years. It was one of the very first News Groups/Boards I joined long ago. It's also very RoGambit friendly. The LeBeau Library has an amazing selection of Gambit fanfiction. I recommend Valerie Jones's Thick as Thieves series for a start. I think Val's been working that series for as long as the board has been around. It's not epic it's ginormous.

Oh, the Gambit Guild, Thick as Thieves... So much memories... I remember they were my first start into the fanfic (as an anonimous reader, of course.)

If somebody want to read the best stories (IMHO) of the X-Men of the Movie Universe and the Ultimate Universe you can check the Medicine Wheel. Unfortunately, after technical problems some of the series are offline.

Actually Black Panther and Storm make a lot of sense to me. He's a prince, She was worshipped as a goddess by the people in her village. They're both from roughly the same area of Africa (or so I'm told).

Although, yes, the way they handled does smack vaguely of "We need a september thing! Hey there's two black characters that vaguely have something to do with each other, let's marry 'em!"

Black Panther is the king of an entire nation, he's got bigger things to worry about then that.

I still think they are too stubborn, if they have an argument I can't see any of them letting the other twist her/his arm. Even if they have some traits in common (like losing a parent, both in her case). But otherwise their background is very different: she was a thief and lived in poverty (until she was worshipped as a Goddess  ), he was a prince and was educated abroad (although that was what I knew, maybe this was retconned). And there is this thing called "emotional issues" that the two of them drag out. Anyway, maybe this couple can be written to last, but the beginning and the foundations could be much better. I think it was too hasty. Give them a year, poor guys  It was like "Oh, long not seen, I need a princess, wanna marry me?"

Back to the matter at hand... Silik as Mistique? Or is it too obvious? And who can be Professor Xavier? Soval?

Silik as Mystique is indeed way to obvious, but if Soval is Xavier that makes Archer Cyclops and none of use want that. Most comic fans hate the guy enough, why throw Archer on the fire as well.

But Xavier chose Cyclops, Soval on the other hand... Does this mean T'Pol would be Scott? Better if I don't think about this, my head hurts :D

Silik as Mystique...granted they're both shapeshifters, but... :? How about T'Les? She's maternal toward T'Pol, and though she isn't a LITERAL shapeshifter, she has to adopt all kinds of roles to survive. (She's a Syrannite, but has to cover it up. She does like Trip---sort of---but has to cover it up).

Xavier's a paternal type, with the dream that mutants and non-mutants would live in harmony. Maybe Admiral Max Forrest? He's like a father-figure to Archer, and he worked to bring Humans and Vulcans together.

Soval as Magneto? He seems rather sure of Vulcan superiority, just as Magneto is of mutant superiority, but here HAVE been times when he's helped Xavier. There's more to Magneto than him being your "typical" villain.

Cyclops? Maybe Archer during the Xindi Arc? Driven, "do what you have to do to get he job done", devoted to a single goal.

I actually see Malcolm as Wolverine to some extent...Logan's a loner, with a snarky sense of humor. Just like Malcolm.

Mystique -> T'Les; I have to disagree. Silik is the better counterpart and not just because of the shape shifting aspect. Silik was a terrorist as is Mystique (Brotherhood of Evil Mutants) and, she recruited Rogue and trained Rogue in her dirty work. T'Les would never have dragged T'Pol in her wicked cause.

Professor X -> Forrest; solid.

Magneto -> Soval; Magneto may have moments of heroism, but that's only when Professor X has forced his hand, usually. He may not be a black and white villain, but he's still a villain with no pity or compassion towards humanity. Soval is not so rigid as we learn in s4.

Cyclops -> Archer; Cyclops is such a goodie goodie boy scout. I've never liked him, but he does have those moments of "by any means necessary, the greater cause above personal desire" that I can see a comparison with Archer in this regard.

Malcolm -> Wolverine. Logan is a loner and wonderfully snarky, but that aside, he and Wolverine ARE not nearly similar. Wolverine is his own man, does not answer to a higher power other than his own. Yes, he respects Professor X, but he will run off to do his own thing at the drop of a hat. Malcolm would not abandon Archer. If I had to pick a character from the X-verse that would most resemble Malcolm, I would have to go with Pete Wisdom, the snarky, slender (non-mutant) Brit who was a former intelligence agent who became a liaison for Excalibur and then X-Force (before that poor title was given the chop block, meh).
