You know you're a Trek fan when the IT system at work asks for a new login password (we have to change every few months) and you give something Trek-related (that's as far as I will tell for obvious reasons).

You know you're a Trek fan when, when asked to resite the Pledge of Allegance in your pre-school class, you resite the "These are the Voyages..." intro instead.

In my defense, I was like [*]four[*] at the time...

Really. But I was only four, and was fed a constant diet of TNG.

OK, I'll use the excuse of aadarshinah's story of Trekkie children saying cute things to tell my own, even though my kids are now in college, lol . . .

When my son, J. was in kindergarten, one day I peaked in his room and he was playing with action figures. He was holding a Captain Kirk action figure and having it say: "Help! Help! I'm turning into a bad guy!" lol . . . which is especially impressive since we didn't watch the original series. I have no idea where he got that.

Later, when J. was in early elementary school, we were watching Voyager. It was an episode where some noncorporial entity is possessing one member of a crew after another, making them act weird. My son, who is following carefully, suggests, "It might be a lifeform. Lifeforms do that sometimes."

Here's another one: you know you're from a Trekkie family when you and your mother spend half hour debating who's the best captain/engineer/doctor/etc out of each of the series... and scarely talk to each other for days over the results.

...when you cry, literally eyes tear up, reading that Leonard Nimoy is retiring again (Conventions too) and you get that sinking feeling that it might actually be the real thing this time. His last convention will also have CT there and it's practically on the other side of the continent. They know how to kick a woman when she's down.

... you smirk at the "warp" tool in Adobe Illustrator and think that clicking it repeatedly should result in making your computer go faster.

You have to run over to the computer to tell your fellow Trekkies that BIO.HD is running a bunch of shows about Star Trek tonight. One about the Christie's auction just ended, "Captain's Log" which is a clip show of Shatner being kinda snarky about the series is just beginning, and then there's one about "The Captains of Star Trek" at 9 EST.

Unfortunately there's not any show coming up called "Hot Engineers and Vulcan Babes," so I should probably just go back to grading homework.
