I was so happy to find a good, realistic Star Trek Enterprise story.
https://forums.spacebattles.com/threads ... oor.87348/It's not finished, but a great read:
There are a couple of things that I really liked about the story:
1. The description of the technological side of Enterprise comes across more realistic.
2. I always wondered why Archer's mood (and also Trip's mood) was so against Vulcans in the beginning and what exactly they had done to his father to deserve his animosity. The story provides at least an answer to that question.
3. Archer comes more across as a leader who trust the input of his team instead of playing the hero every single time.
4. The relationship between Archer and Trip is more balanced, Trip doesn't look up to Archer as much and Trip's mother has adopted Archer into her family (what he obviously needs).
5.It shows the difficult position T'Pol is in. She is a delegate of Vulcan, but she still has to function in a totally Human crew and take orders from the Human captain. She has to find a balance between all the powers that want something and are pulling at her. She is working under difficult circumstances. I hardly ever seen this addressed at the show and in fan fiction.
6. T'Pol is a real scientist and someone who would be great in engineering.
7. I also liked Travis in this story. Being raised in a Boomer family, he has so much story potential and much to attribute to the mission of Enterprise and we see hardly anything from that potential. The story acknowledges his potential.
