There's another excerpt in the October/November issue of Star Trek Magazine ! It's really good, too! :happyjump: I can't post it because I don't have the time to type in three pages or get it scanned, but it's a scene with Archer, Malcolm and T'Pol where there's some tension about recent events. The pages with the excerpt have some really nice pictures of T'Pol, appearing like she did in "the_abomination" with the longer hair, lighter color in a Starfleet Uniform, Malcolm and Archer. I'm guessing the editors did some kind of cut and paste with T'Pol and she looks great! No Trip, though, although he is mentioned.

It's coming out October 20th! I have my copy on reserve. When I was buying the magazine I met a nice guy who turned out to be a Trekkie, too, so we had a nice conversation. He recommended that I read a trilogy (I can't remember the name, though) that has Erika Hernandez as the main character, Enterprise era. Need to check that out, too.

 It's got some really great character moments in the excerpt from the StarTrek magazine there's also an excerpt up up at the official book book site that's realy powerful too.I can't wait for this book to finally come out at long last. :happyjump: :happyjump:The Destiny book trilogy is the one with the backstory of what happens with Erika Hernandez and the Columbia crew. The books are really dark and angsty. It tells the the story of the calier and the creation of the borg. There are some scenes that are kind of sad when it comes to the fate certain members of the Columbia crew.It has to do with descions of an away mission with the Calier that goes wrong because of the wrong choices and has long lasting repercussions for centuries to come. The destruction of the Calier homeworld. and what happens to the survivors.

Gonna have to get copy of the maggazine. I am first in line at the Library but would like to know more about the book. If it is just Archer and T-Pol forget it. Must have lots of Trip and romance betweenTnT. I am easily satisfied, No Archer, lots of Trip and T-Pol that is all.

Over at Trek bbs there's a interview in the Trek literature section of Micheal A. Martin that goes into alot of details about the book and the storyline. We're going to see alot of the Vulcans in this book apparently and see how the Kirshara is changing Vulcan socitey/ And the Vulcan/Romulan history  .Also mentioned in this book interviewthat yes Trip is going to be featured in the book As well As T'Pol, Malocolm and Archer and the Enterprise crew members will be pushed to the limit when it comes to events of The Romulan war.

Well I just have one question, if the Romulan/Earth war began in 2156 and ended in 2160, and *the_abomination* was in 2161 how on earth does Trip faking his death come into play the Romulan war had been over for almost a year. It makes no sense. So what gives?

In the books, Trip fakes his death shortly after Terra Prime and before the Romulan War begins, the dates are just incorrect in the holoprogram, as are a number of other "facts" - all designed by Section 31 to confuse history. Remember *the_abomination* took place two hundred years later and lots of dates and facts can get blurred over time.

A stretch? Sure, but stretches can feel good.

Micheal A. Martin explains "the abomination" this way:

MM: I say stuff and nonsense to those who accuse us of violating canon. I look at it this way: Everything we know about the events presented in "These Are the Voyages..." came from a 24th-century holodeck program. That program could have been written as late as the very year Commander Riker was using it in the episodes 24th-century framing sequence, more than two centuries after the time frame of Enterprise's fourth season. That's about the same span of time that separates modern Americans from the time of their Founding Fathers and the American Revolution. Think about that. Consider how little most Americans really know about the actual history of that period. Consider how much Romantic mythology has taken the place of real, hardheaded history. My contention is that the Federation will be no different than other cultures in this respect; its popular accounts of history are just as liable to be as larded with myth and error as are ours. Add to that the machinations of people such as the Section 31 operatives who have manipulated Trip Tucker since 2155, and it becomes completely understandable why the "real" historical record could be at odds with common wisdom.

Sounds like a good way to look at it to me. Read the rest of the interview. He says a lot about the future of this relaunch series. It sounds hopeful. He even says he plans to get the whole crew back together at some point.

I wasn't disagreeing but I've never read the books. So I don't know the entire plot. Thanks for explaining, and yes I think that's a nice stretch.

But honestly most stretching is hell period. Trust me go to a rehabilitation center for a few hours, lots of people screaming of all ages.

So are any of these books well written?

I really enjoyed the first very Trip-centric book "The Good That Men Do" which I think was very well written. I also liked "Kobyashu Maru", although I didn't like it quite as much - even though there is more direct TnT romance in it.
