Okay - So I was inspired to write a response to this challenge.

It's [No longer] posted.

It's a stand alone story, but it is also a bridge between my two stories "Dusk" and "Family Secrets" and is a prologue of sorts to the eventual sequel to "Familly Secrets."

Update: a wee issue exists with that text - so it will be up in a bit. Stay tuned.

Okay:

Here's the story: The Little Miracle

Oooh, I'll play!

Midnight Confessions

They'd come up with a compromise of sorts: T'Mir could experience the Tooth Fairy, Santa Claus, and the Easter bunny as Trip wanted, but T'Pol had nothing to do with it. Trip suspected she had spent years perfecting a speech to T'Mir on the subject.

It was late, he was tired from a long day, and he was not at his best. Trip dropped the tooth. Swearing in his head, he bent over to retrieve it. That took a minute, and when he stood up again, he was looking right at his wide-awake daughter. She stared at him - tooth in one hand, dollar in the other.

"Hi honey," he said weakly.

"You appear to be acting as the Tooth Fairy," she informed him calmly.

"Uh, yeah. She's, ah, extra-busy tonight, so she asked if I'd help out, see..."

T'Mir cocked her head in perfect imitation of T'Pol. "You need not distress yourself fabricating an explanation, Father. I grew suspicious at Easter. Mother confirmed that the Easter Bunny, Santa Claus, and the Tooth Fairy are all cultural fabrications."

"An' neither of you told me because?"

"Because Mother explained that you are engaged in these activities so that I may fully experience my human heritage, and because you love me."

"Ah," he said. "Well, she's right about that. I figured you'd catch on quicker than other kids, but I didn't want you to miss out."

She nodded. "Mother warned me against informing my classmates of the truth."

"She's a smart lady."

"Father?"

"Yes?"

"I believe it would be most unfair if I suffered a financial loss because of my early realization that the Tooth Fairy could not exist."

Trip laughed and handed over the dollar.

That was so lovely, JadziaKathryn. I can totally see Trip wanting his children to have those Human experiences.
A most logical little girl, wishing to still get the dollar

Thanks all! Glad you liked it. It's fun to see what different things people come up with for the same prompt.
