Re: "Enterprise: The Romulan War"
I could just see the same culture that decides to put a touchy-feely counselor aboard a starship deciding to take liberties with history to jazz up a holonovel (not that our own culture doesn't already do that plenty). Once you get into holonovels in a big way I would expect that your respect for reality could start to get a little tenuous. I hate the holodeck. Or, more accurately, I hate holodeck stories.

All I know is that if I were in Starfleet I'd need a touchy-feely therapist on board. So I don't blame either Deanna or Will for *the_abomination*.
Some of these people haven't taken their medication. Let's see what happens now...

And by people WG had herself in mind, but then the quote would have been ruined.

Nobody's blaming them. We just didn't want to see them.

I would love to read his excuses.

Sorrym Silverbullet, there's not that much here in the way of an excuse, more like an "oops, it didn't work. But here's what he said:

Re: "Enterprise: The Romulan War"
I can see why they might think it would be a cool idea. Unfortunately the details pissed on too many things that we loved, particularly Terra Prime. I also think they vastly underestimated the grieving process people go through when the series they're actually watching at the time ends. We don't WANT any frickin' valentines to the other series!!! We already got over them, or stopped watching them out of boredom, or whatever -- years ago. We got to enjoy THEIR finales. (And I did -- I returned to Voyager after years away just for the finale and enjoyed it. I thought TNG's finale was fabulous.) We deserved a satisfying ending to OURS.
I guess this does explain why Terra Prime really does work so well as a finale.

Re: "Enterprise: The Romulan War"
I'll never understand the reasoning, for that. Sorry why dig up an episode to "reference" for the "Valantine" that had a fine resolution on it's own. Why go into TNG's past. Why not have a trying situation in ST future present? That would have made sense. If you want to honor all the ST's that come before ENT really do it in a way that makes some sense.

Re: "Enterprise: The Romulan War"
I agree, Silverbullet. "the _abomination" was such a train-wreck, it made no sense for all the reasons we've listed before, and treated fans like we were stupid. I feel some satisfaction that Braga understands why the fans feel that way. I think he gets it now - didn't at the time, but does now.

Re: "Enterprise: The Romulan War"
"Cool Idea" Who is this guy kidding? I thoght it was upossed to be the last episode of Enterprise which sends off the crew to other and better lives. Something the fans would like. Why in Hell is he sending a Valentine to eighteen years of ST?
Kill off the most popular character on the show. end a relationship that he seems to have hated and tried to sabotage while the series ran.
Lauds his Hero Archer.
No promotions for Hoshi, reed Or Travis? Impossible.
The Abominatin was nothing but one big Finger at the Fans and I believe done with great deliberatness.
Apparently two of his leading actors JB abd CT boycotted the after party. so they didn't think too highly of the Abomination.
I cannot belive that this guy still doesn't understand. He talks out of both sides of his mouth. claims he knows it was a mistake but still says it was a Cool Idea.
I suppose the people at the con gave him a polite round of applause instead of throwing rotten eggs at him.

Re: "Enterprise: The Romulan War"
Leaders or people in leading positions hardly ever say "Sorry, I made a mistake" or "I hate my own writing" and Braga also has a partner with directing *the_abomination* who hasn't responded at all. So for him to say "it has been a mistake" and "I am not sure it came together" while still saying he liked the concept of the show (I wouldn't chosen that concept, but I can see the potential), is the most you can expect as an apology.Aikiweezie wrote:Originally Posted by Brannon Braga @ VegasCon09

Of course, I still feel that the ENT should have had their own finale and they are failing to see this and I would be much happier if he shared my views on *the_abomination* ("Worse writing in tv-history"

Back to the topic at hand: I am afraid I don't expect much TnT in The Romulan war. What I had read so far, also jugding from the cover and the excerpt in the beginning, this is going to be a book about Archer, leader of the Federation and carrier of Surak's katra (didn't they know how much I dislike the Archer as carrier of Surak's katra's concept?

Love is a verb.

Re: "Enterprise: The Romulan War"
Panysaan, Of course ENT should have had its own finale a feel good finale. Damned right they still don't get it or rather Bragga doesn't get it. Doubt if he ever will. I am surprised he even admitted to a possible mistake. that kind cannot allow mistakes. Thank god for Fanfics.
RE New Novel. You are probably right, it will be Archer. Trip wil be left out of the novel after the opening scenes. Hopefully he and t-Pol wil be allowed to become a couple. I understand, though, that T-Pol will be a large part of this novel. If so that means she will be with Archer all through the book. Not sure I will red the book although I am first on the list for when it comes into the local library.

Re: "Enterprise: The Romulan War"
I'm going to play "Devil's Advocate" for a minute. Not because I happen to like the killer B's much anymore, but because they gave us some awesome ST back in the days of my childhood. As a concept I don't really mind *the_abomination*. I had no problem seeing people in "future Trek" I liked it. It was nostalgic and sentimental for me. So yeah I get where Braga was coming from. However the excecution was really badly done, and I'm not sure whoes fault it was. But the way I feel about *the_abomination* is the way I feel about the entire series of ENT. It was an amazing concept, some truly brilliant characters and storylines. But the pieces just didn't fit.
Back to the books, like I said I haven't seen an ENT book get more than three stars, and the ones that do it's because people vote more than once. I really don't want to waste the money I don't have anyway. So when someone starts a thread about it, I will read with rapt attention.

Re: "Enterprise: The Romulan War"
StarTrek Magazine has another Excerpt from the Romulan war Beneath The Raptor's wing, in their latest Magazine introduced by author Micheal A. Martin. The excerpt takes a few days after the Kobayashi Maru incident and Reed and T'Pol returning to Enterprise and continuing problems caused by the Romualans. i don't want to spoil it but this book sounds going to have alot of neat things when it comes to certain characters story arcs and they do Talk about Trip being undercover in Romulan space.
