... and I know people who think of it as the official continuation of the story since the show was cancelled and all that rot. Plus, the books are practically continuity porn in the way they try not only to not contradict what was onscreen in any of the series and also try and resolve stuff that contradicted other stuff. Plus, they undid *the_abomination* without totally ignoring it PLUS got TnT back together. ....

That's the reason because of which, even if I didn't find the books really my cup of tea, I'm glad they exist.

I'll happily recommend that later, TnT chapters of the latest book. Again, they aren't fanfic but they are the best a shipper could possibly expect - knowing that the story is going to continue so there is no happy ending - yet.

I'm glad the books exist for people who like them. I just don't see them helping the RU all that much. IF IF TPTB ever decided to revive ENT with a movie or something, just having Trip alive in books, wouldn't necessarily be incentive to ressurect him for it.

Warp Girl, how could you have a move without Trip in it? He may yave been held down by the writers and TPTB in order toconcentrate on and enchance the character of Archer but the Fans loved him. Needless to say that is probably the main reason the Abomination is hated so much the killing off of Trip and making Tnt part forever.

True but doing what they wanted killed the series and probably woulld turn a potential blockbuster into a so so Movie.

Speaking of the great undo of *the_abomination* in the books, I would like to give a shout out to the now-laid off editor Margaret Clark. I've heard that he listened very hard to what fans had to say about *the_abomination* and made a list of everything that was wrong with episode and gave Martin/Mangels their marching orders to undo it. She went to the big heads at paramount and - they said go for it. The list was apparently long - and had lots more on it that Trip's death and the end of TnT. I've heard that even Shran being a criminal was on the list of things to undo.

She may have not worked directly for the show, but she was a fan, a TnT shipper and she listened to the reaction to *the_abomination*. It's a darn shame she was let go from Pocket Books - and I can only hope that her influence continues.

MC was apparently let go in a series of layoff by Pocket Books, which Paramount didn't have anything to do with. It was a fuction of corporate conglomeration - and not really a creative decision. I do think that it is a shame, however, because when you've got someone who loves the universe and loves the fandom, they should be supported. But unfortunately, there are very few suit-types that get fandom at all.

You'll get no argument from me - I wish there was someone in charge of the whole franchise that loved and respected it. The new movies are sort of their own world - but old school stuff in the form the books, comics and other media should be shepherded by a long term fan and not a corporate bean counter.

Unfortunately we live in a world-wide society where Greed is good, even though the 80's are over. Franchises first obligation is to make money, everything else is secondary. And Unfortunately love and respect does not often translate to a healthy bottom line.

No, but a potential audience does translate in to profits. That is why ratings are so important. Networks can set what they charge for commercial time based on now many viewers they can deliver who will see the Comericals. The show is just the cooch girl to draw in the viewers to see the Commercials. More viewers higher profits for everyone. Same with books. Lots of buyers and readers more mney. Bean counters should reaslize this.
