One from student days

If truth in hearts that perish

IF truth in hearts that perish
Could move the powers on high,
I think the love I bear you
Should make you not to die.

Sure, sure, if stedfast meaning,
If single thought could save,
The world might end to-morrow,
You should not see the grave.

This long and sure-set liking,
This boundless will to please,
—Oh, you should live for ever
If there were help in these.

But now, since all is idle,
To this lost heart be kind,
Ere to a town you journey
Where friends are ill to find.

Yeah.
Just the last verse. :)
Well yes. I continue to write. And on Fanfiction.Net, for those who want, it is possible to cast a glance at my latest efforts. We arrived to
The Ears of the Elves, chapter Forty-four

And here is the beginning of the whole story.

But, I must say, you could also find something else on Fanfiction.net written by me. If you want.

Perhaps another classic?

Sonnets from the Portuguese >
XLIII. "How do I love thee? Let me count the ways..."
by Elizabeth Barrett Browning (1806-1861)

How do I love thee? Let me count the ways.
I love thee to the depth and breadth and height
My soul can reach, when feeling out of sight
For the ends of Being and ideal Grace.
I love thee to the level of everyday's
Most quiet need, by sun and candle-light.
I love thee freely, as men strive for Right;
I love thee purely, as they turn from Praise.
I love thee with a passion put to use
In my old griefs, and with my childhood's faith.
I love thee with a love I seemed to lose
With my lost saints, --- I love thee with the breath,
Smiles, tears, of all my life! --- and, if God choose,
I shall but love thee better after death.

Or:

somewhere i have never travelled

somewhere i have never travelled, gladly beyond
any experience, your eyes have their silence:
in your most frail gesture are things which enclose me,
or which i cannot touch because they are too near

your slightest look easily will unclose me
though i have closed myself as fingers,
you open always petal by petal myself as Spring opens
(touching skilfully, mysteriously) her first rose

or if your wish be to close me, i and
my life will shut very beautifully, suddenly,
as when the heart of this flower imagines
the snow carefully everywhere descending;

nothing which we are to perceive in this world equals
the power of your intense fragility: whose texture
compels me with the colour of its countries,
rendering death and forever with each breathing

(i do not know what it is about you that closes
and opens; only something in me understands
the voice of your eyes is deeper than all roses)
nobody, not even the rain, has such small hands

-- e. e. cummings

Neuropressure, see?

There are several songs that always make me think of Trip and T'Pol. Unfortunately those aren't written in English. The words in those songs are so poetic that the words work alone without the music. I'll try to translate those a bit, but it wont be the same. So many complex meanings will be lost. Maybe when I have more time I'll try to do it better.

This first one is angst filled song for those moments when Trip is alone and misses T'Pol who doesn't have time for Trip anymore in the middle of season four.

razor wire
Sure, I guess I miss you.
I'm tired of waiting and concealing.
You don't have to say goodbye,
I will,
in time.
Razor wire weaves my heart around.
Sure, I guess I miss you too much.
I'm tired of thinking and searching
reasons to why so rarely
you want to see me
and slowly
razor wire weaves my heart around
razor wire.

This one is more positive one. It's about why you should find the courage to love. It would be for Trip and T'Pol both about not giving up.
Good night and good morning
Stay this night,
something tries to stall you here.
Bullet proof heart doesn't exist.
If you have that big dream in your pocket,
this moment stays,
and only what you do now matters.
Good night and good morming.
You can later sleep,
24 hours,
wish you happiness.
Good night and good morning.
Don't give up yet,
everyhting has a price,
but nothing is yet lost.
You can't have the past
and it's pointless to wait the future
so if you have that special,
hold on to it
don't believe in cynical phrases.

Trip and T'Pol doing some much needed work for their relationship.
A wind blowing
I am so light that I float around in your room.
I am a feather and you- a wind keep blowing so I wont fall.
You open the window, I rise in the air over the roofs
and everything gets into the right perspective,
the same old thing:what doesn't kill you makes you stronger,
I got a gift yesterday I'll hope I never forget.
Now I'm so light that I float high in the air
and the city below looks so beautifull.
A wind blows.
When you are the wind,
and I'm the feather,
when the wind blows in the city
I rise up high.
Just try to forget the things keeping you a wake at night.
Just dare to dive into the wind.
It's hard to trust, but without it you wont gain.
I blow and you rise
when I'm the wind and you a feather.
A wind blows in the city.
You rise high in the air again.
You jump but wont fall.
You are so beautifull when you float in the air.
Sadness drops in significance.
A wind blows.
When I'm the wind
and you are the feather for me to carry,
you rise up high.
When you are the wind
and I am the feather for you to carry,
we rise up high.
Fly me like a kite
high under the sky I fly again.
I fly you like a kite
high under the sky you fly again.

These are songs that belong to a finnish band and I've tried my best to translate.

Those are very nice. The last one is particularly beautiful, TnT or not. Are there youtube versions in Finnish so we can hear it with the music?

Oh thanks! I was a little surprised at the arrangement given the lyrics. That heavy guitar treatment doesn't really suggest flying on someone's breath...

Well, not breath, but you know what I mean -- flying -- it should be a little light and magical when it's a person.

It's probably because of my not so good translation. I just wasn't able to find any other words that would have the same meaning. There are so many words and complex expressions that don't have a similar word in English. The feelings are very strong it is a wind blowing not just a breath. It's something that can carry you trough your whole life if you let it something very strong. It can get you very high above the city to see things differently. There is a huge contrast a strong wind and a feather or a kite. Both being the strong wind and feather. Carrying each other with strength making each other very light. But only together if you have the courage to dive into it to trust not to fall.

Just a small addition. In the beginning he describes how wonderfull it's to fly to be carried by someone. To get a gift. Then he tries to suggest that she should do it too. Let him be the wind for her. Then she takes the step and jumps but doesn't fall. They become the carrying force and the one carried together.

Oh, I think the lyrics are perfect -- and lovely. I was just taken aback by the music. I had imagined something very different. Sort of like reading the book and then seeing the movie and going WHAT???? Whereas if you see the movie first everything's cool.
