Where to find Vulcan Cultural info.

Postby pdsldl » Tue Sep 02, 2008 1:51 pm

I recently started a TnT fic and have been using the Vulcan Language Institute but it seems to have disappeared. Does anyone know any other sites out there? Right now I'm looking for the name of the game Tovok played on Voyager.

Memory Alpha is the best resource for minutia like that. To answer your question, the game is called Kal-toh. ;)

As for Vulcan language stuff, there's the Vulcan Language Dictionary.

Thanks for your suggestion. That's not the right game, though. It was a Vulcan version of chess that has multiple layer. Maybe it was Spock who played it.

I think that was just plain old three-dimensional chess.

No way! I am using the game as well in my little attempt to write a TnT fic. :D

Thanks for your help all. I found one. I'm not sure it's the one I was looking for, but it will work. It's called Reh-retuka-tches. 3D Vulcan chess.

Oh poo! I can't believe the Vulcan Language Institute is ... just gone. No warning?? I'm glad to have the VLD and memory-alpha... but there was such a plethera of information on Vulcan culture at the VLI.

Argh! And I'm writing a fic that takes place on Vulcan for cryin' out loud.

I just checked out the Vulcan Language Dictionary, and it's pretty impressive as far as vocabulary goes, but does anything out there explain about grammar and syntax?

I checked and alas! can't find the Vulcan Language Institute. I fired off an email to Mark Gardener, the site administrator asking about it. His email address is: vli@teleport.com
Working on a major fan fic project. Two-thirds done. Hope to put it up in the not TOO distant future.

Oh dear, the email address for Mark Gardner is not working either. This does not bode well. I have sent email to Selek, the creator of the Vulcan Language Dictionary and that email did not return unread like Mark's did. So Selek's email address is still active! Maybe Selek knows what is going on with the Vulcan Language Institute.

This is among the best images I have ever seen.
Well yes. I continue to write. And on Fanfiction.Net, for those who want, it is possible to cast a glance at my latest efforts. We arrived to
The Ears of the Elves, chapter Forty-four

And here is the beginning of the whole story.

But, I must say, you could also find something else on Fanfiction.net written by me. If you want.

I'm impressed that you can see it. Is that supposed to be Trip and T'Pol? I really can't quite make her out. If so, how'd you do that?

(And is it really a Ralph Lauren perfume ad or something or did these guys really pose?)

I saved it.
