Re: Vid: "Radioactive"

I'm glad you enjoyed it :-) It's been a long time coming - 4.5 years in terms of general vidding, and about six months in terms of this specific vid. Hopefully it played (mostly) clean for you, even if it took a long time to buffer - I've tried it through a few different internet connections at home...

Re: Vid: "Radioactive"

Thanks :-) I think the server is still recovering from whatever meltdown it had the past few weeks...granted this vid file is a lot larger than my others, but I've noticed a few of the others taking a lot longer to load than normal, too. One of the big symptoms that most users seemed to have during ...

Vid: "Radioactive"

So...I've mentioned a vid in passing a few times, and I finally finished it. In fact, I finished it over a week ago, but my website host was having some big issues that have hopefully, finally been resolved. I've been working on it off and on since last October, and it took me a LOT longer than I pl...

Re: The Hunger Games

I'm still personally getting over the idea that the next book needs two movies to tell its tale. ...really? Where I come from, editing is considered a good thing, and goodness knows Collins edited the holy crap out of the books before submitting them for publication. :duh: ...where did you see/hear...

Re: Status and Support

My real life blew up for years, lol. Now that I've finally got back into writing, I'm doing all that I can to hold on to it. For a long time I was making sure I did a bit of writing in bed before turning in for the night - even if it's just a paragraph or two (although a couple nights I found myself...

A bone to pick....

Why must TPTB insist on putting some of the best TnT scenes immediately following the opening credits, when a whole whack of supporting credits get splashed across the majority of the screen? In some cases a good zoom or strategically placed tiny clip can get around it, but not when they take up 75%...

Re: Status and Support

This morning I got the same pm in my mail box of ffnet. Being the e-mailolic that I am, I e-mailed back that I had lots of stories ideas and if he/she wanted to discuss story-ideas with other readers/writers, the best way to do this is to go to one of the forums of sites dedicated to Enterprise fan...

Re: Status and Support

Yeah, I'm the same - have nothing wrong with slash (as others have mentioned, I have a number of gay friends and I'm definitely pro-gay rights), I just don't write it, or really read it most of the time. Has nothing to do with the nature of the type of relationship, it's just that the fandoms I foll...

Re: Status and Support

Good luck, Distracted! I plan on seeing it in my bookstore in the future, and if I'm still working there when it does, I'll be putting it into customers hands :-)

Re: How long should a chapter be?

I agree with Cogito - there really isn't a right or wrong answer, it depends entirely on the story. Some stories work with under 1000 words in a chapter, and some work with over 5000, and others get away with mixing it up. I tend to split them based on the general tone...if it feels like the story h...

Re: Music Video Help

I should add that the output format for DVDShrink is .vob, and there are conversion programs out there that will change them into whatever you'd like (a good one I use is Format Factory - http://www.pcfreetime.com/download.html - it converts all kinds of media into different formats, and you have ma...

Re: Music Video Help

Well this is about four years too late, but if anyone is still looking for a good program to grab scenes and such off of DVDs (for vidding or any other purpose), one of the best programs I've found is DVDShrink (http://www.dvdshrink.org). It's a free program, and it decrypts almost any DVD (I have c...
