Re: "Guess Who" Drabble Challenge

Now you've explained it I can see how all the clues you've given us fit together. That's very cleverly done. I was on completely the wrong lines!

Re: "Guess Who" Drabble Challenge

It's a stumper. There are quite a few subtle clues which are hard to fit into the same episode, but my best guess is that it's the Ferengi captain during Acquisition. Google tells me the captain's name was Ulis. Anywhere close?

And if it is, that's our T'Pol he's insulting at the end. Grrr! :bitch:

Re: "Guess Who" Drabble Challenge

"Easy one" he says. Pah! I'm thinking one of the Orions, maybe, but that's only a stab in the dark. I'll have to get my thinking cap on. :)

Re: "Guess Who" Drabble Challenge

I enjoyed that, WarpGirl. I liked the character of Hayes and thought his confidence and professionalism contrasted quite starkly with Reed's childish and insecure introvert. In hindsight, the last sentence is especially poignant.

Re: "Guess Who" Drabble Challenge

I tried my hardest to make it ambiguous, and I'm quite smug that Distracted guessed wrong at the first attempt, because usually she is so infallible. Panyasan and WarpGirl of course were too clever to be fooled. At least, I assume that WarpGirl got it right. She didn't actually say, did she? Hmmm .....

Re: "Guess Who" Drabble Challenge

In that case, with WarpGirl 's blessing ... This one made me write it last night: She still won't face what's plain to see. Was my own logic ever this flawed? Where is the impetuous child who stood ready to defy her whole world? But now too timid to admit a simple truth. If she only understood the c...

I think that would be a good way to reduce the terrifying pressure of guessing right, and then not being able to deliver the next drabble. If WarpGirl doesn't object?

Re: Vulcan Body Temperature

With an average body temperature of 91F (Star Fleet Medical Reference Manual) That seems to be saying that their body temperature is on average lower than the human body temperature, which is not what I would have expected. Perhaps there is a Vulcan equivalent of being cold blooded, which allows th...

Lemme get this straight: You're asking if T'Pol was hot? Seriously? :guffaw:

I haven't done the sums to work that out but I'm sure you're right. But she's young, female and attractive. That's automatically OK. Sorry, I don't make the rules ... :dunno:

Re: Drabble Cheats

I enjoyed it too, but I daren't suggest who it might be because there's no chance of me producing a drabble within the next couple of weeks. I will say though that it took very little effort to also see this as another :porthos: story. And I just noticed that the :tpol: smiley has one eyebrow raised...

Yes you're right, but I do prefer it when the science is self-consistent and credible, even though some things established by canon might make it difficult to achieve that.

Re: Vulcan Body Temperature

The idea of blood flow providing an 'internal' cooling mechanism doesn't make sense to me. All it can do is equalise the temperature throughout the body. This would make any cooling available at the skin's surface more effective, but without sweating the only cooling mechanism I can see would be the...

The new smileys are great, but can I put in a requisition for a healthy green version of T'Pol?
